Don't know how to explain it any better. He tacitly concurs with suggestions of violence at his rallies and in fact urged his supporters on to what became the insurrection at the Capitol.

BTW, a lot of the people in jail for that riot said exactly what you point out: "I did it because the president told me to."
And you're right, it didn't work and they are accountable for their own actions.
None of that excuses his behavior, that continues even to this day.

And the reason those people listened to trump is because of the deterioration of society that Smails was referring to. Has little to do with trump, except that he capitalized on people’s stupidity.

Not condoning trumps behavior but your incessant obsession with this guy on a daily basis has become borderline psychotic.

I’ll also add since you seem to not have a clue. People’s bank accounts and way of life was much better with trump in office than it is right now. As much as I think trump is human excrement and wont vote for him, I can see why people will over the dumbass in there now.

As to the "Impeachment Inquiry," Pelosi tried it without a vote, and the DOJ shot her down. People don't have to obey subpoenas without a formal vote.

Suppose McCarthy knows this? I can see Jordan and Comer issuing them, and the WH ignoring.
