Certainly expect the radical right to fight back. They've been whining about everything since 11/4. Is anybody listening? Fox news is getting sued for a billion+ and their ratings are in the toilet. As my 'pub friends loved to say for 4 years, "elections have consequences." Keep bitching Cruzers!!

I'm not complaining about anything. I just like to have dialogue based on facts, not somebody's tweets, or news feed from opinion artists.

I think the Republicans outplayed the Dems with a concentrated playbook for decades. My "opinion" is that much of it is fear based, from Lee Atwater all the way to Trump. Hopefully the Dems wake up to that, although they don't seem to be anywhere near as well organized nationally.
Fear based? Clean your own house Paul.

Remember every Rub was going to blow up the world but hasn’t however a Dem dropped the bomb....Twice.

No one is complaining. States are fixing election irregularities and Biden is burying the Dems. It’s more keeping the powder dry.

As to Ohio's redistricting, I think if you check, the current congressional districts, which were re-drawn after the 2010 census, were drawn by the party in power in the Ohio state house...the Republicans. So if you live in a highly gerrymandered district, like the one you describe from Toledo eastward, call the state Republican party. Don't blame it on Dems.
Ford & Nixon were one administration with the same policies. Ford was never elected. He was complicit in the administration policies. Don’t distract.

I don’t have to “check”. I live here!! Know who was in power in Ohio in 2010? The Democrats. The lines were based on the 2000 census, not 2010. Strickland, who was such a clueless Governor, lost his race to Kasich.

In 2011, Roll Call criticized it as a product of gerrymandering, naming it one of the United States' "Top 5 Ugliest Districts". It’s also called “The Snake by the Lake”

    Try again.

Paul and self-awareness haven't gotten the chance to be introduced yet.

How about Grandpa Joe saying that new GA voting law has the polls closing at 5:00PM and 'working people" won't be able to vote.

"What I’m worried about is how un-American this whole initiative is. It’s sick. It’s sick," Biden said. "Deciding that you’re going to end voting at five o'clock when working people are just getting off work."

Rebuke from Glen Kessler (Liberal fact checker from the Washington Post)

"On Election Day in Georgia, polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and if you are in line by 7 p.m., you are allowed to cast your ballot. Nothing in the new law changes those rules. However, the law did make some changes to early voting. But experts say the net effect was to expand the opportunities to vote for most Georgians, not limit them," Kessler continued, noting some experts feel Biden may have been briefed on an outdated version of the bill.

Kessler also wrote Biden may have gotten confused because the new law clarifies that early voting can be conducted "beginning at 9:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM," as opposed to the previous framing that simply noted early voting "shall be conducted during normal business hours."

OK, I'll try again. Here is a link to show who was control of the Ohio legislature in 2010.

    https://ballotpedia.org/Ohio_House_of_Representatives

In the last 28 years, Dems have controlled the house in Ohio for 2 cycles. They had it in '08, but lost in 2010. Republicans have had it since.
The census of 2010 was used by the Republicans to redraw the districts, including your snake district.

After the 2010 Census, Ohio lost two House seats due to slow population growth compared to the national average, and a new map was signed into law on September 26, 2011. This map was ruled unconstitutional due to "partisan gerrymandering", and state Republicans were told to redraw the map before June 14, 2019.
As I understand it, the suit went all the way to the SC, and was dismissed. A new map is coming and think Ohio is trying for a bi-partisan commission to re-draw the lines.

Regardless, it is my understanding that the Republicans re-drew the lines (including the long district on the lake) in 2011, based on the 2010 census.

[B] The One Hundred Twenty-ninth Ohio General Assembly was a meeting of the Ohio state legislature, composed of the Ohio State Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives. It met in Columbus, Ohio from January 3, 2011 until December 20, 2012. While Ted Strickland was Ohio Governor for the first week of the biennium, John Kasich was sworn in during the second week. The apportionment of districts was based on the 2000United States Census. This was the last time the 2000 census was used by the General Assembly to determine the apportionment of legislative districts.

The District has been Represented by a Democrat forever because it’s been a huge Dem fight to protect it and part of a compromise agreement. Dennis Kuchinich before, Marcy Kaptur now. It is drawn to favor Democrats. Anthony Gonzalez, a Republican represents the adjacent district. When it gets redrawn Gonzalez will win, if he runs.

Stop acting like only Republicans Gerrymander. Dems jump at the chance.

I hate to get involved in this but because I lived in this district in 2012 I will share my memory of this, which backs what Paul says. The district was redrawn to include part of Kucinich’s district and Kaptur/Kucinich, BOTH incumbents, were forced to run against each other thus eliminating a Democrat in congress. Kaptur was already in office since the early 80s and because the census showed depleting population Ohio lost two seats. Republican legislature drew the new lines (the governor does not draw congressional district lines) knowing the seat lost in this area would be a Democratic seat. I’m sure Democrats gerrymander but this is not an example of that at all.
