This is a media driven overreaction to ONE tournament.

This type of tourney has happened in the past previous to NIL.

2 years ago the media was writing articles about SD State and FAU and how NIL allowed others to compete.

    Lets step off the ledge.

I am actually feeling refreshed at the idea of starting with a blank slate. Outside of Conwell and Swain, we had a couple guys we were committed to on the roster who I am not sure were ready to contribute at the level Miller was hoping for. We were going to need at least 5 new contributors anyway. Now we need 8 (assuming we go 8 deep as usual).

True, but you could say the big schools have learned utilized their competitive advantage over the last few years and we are just now seeing the results.

Mack had some great well rounded teams. Nasty, length, real rim protectors. Sean’s 2nd stint was all finesse and speed coupled with some fake toughness. I want the chip on the shoulder, that attitude and the cockiness back. (No offense to McKnight and others who showed no emotion out there)

Mack definitely had an emphasis on tough bigs which would be refreshing to see again.

I am excited about the possibility of Mack. I think I will actually be disappointed with anyone else save maybe the High Point coach who I have read good things about or Schertz who I think is pretty solid (and could bring some talent with him while maybe retaining Conwell).

I was happy with Mack or Huss. But I will say If Mack brings the attitude back to X, I’m all for it.

500 guys entered the portal day 1.

There are 79 Power 5 teams.

Thats 6.3 guys per team on Day 1.

Lets say X's program is in the top half (so top 40 in the country essentially). There will be plenty of players for X to grab. Literally I have zero worry whatsoever of our new coach putting together capable roster next year. NONE.

And we will not be filling out any of our roster with D2 players, unless they are quality like Hankins.

My biggest worry is just GC hiring the right coach.
Bro, I get being a fan. But you just look silly when you dismiss the unique imbalance between guys leaving college and the number of guys entering college. This would be the year where you want the LEAST amount of holes to fill and we are going to have the MOST amount of holes to fill. And due to basic supply and demand, the prices for decent players will be inflated.

This is literally the worst possible moment to be in this situation. It doesn’t matter what coach we get. We have finite NIL that will not stretch past a mediocre starting 5. We don’t have a single guy to build around. And if we did, he’d soak us dry anyway to get him to stick around.

I just can’t fathom how this is not evident.

I’d say it will be a miracle to be .500 next year and hopefully it’s accomplished with mostly underclassmen. Then maybe a year of respectability and shoot for the tourney by year 3.

And don’t temp me with going back to old posts. You thought things would just be normal with the NIL and Portal which was dumb at the time and somehow looks even dumber now

To be fair you also said there was no way X would get 13 wins in the big east this year.

I love the NIL/portal era as a CBB fan. I can’t wait for the matchups this weekend. The slate is loaded with great games, Think X is just fine in it, too. But I get that it would be tough if this happened the same time X was in the A-10. It’s not for everyone, and I get that. From my perspective, it’s awesome.

You are always so wrong. We'll just add this to the list. By all accounts I have heard X is in the Top 40 in NIL. We have plenty of money to build a team and it has NEVER been easier for a new coach to do so.

You are always so extreme....we'll be filling our rosters with D2 players is the latest example, lmao.

Agreed. Mo Egger was on the radio today and talked a lot about the Miller situation and NIL and portal in general. He take was that he loves it and the product on the court has literally never been better. There are some things I don't love but overall I agree with his take. The matchups we have in the tourney this week are awesome.

Oh and Hett, said we would never win 13 games in the BE this year? I missed, that but no surprise, thanks for pointing that out for those of us that missed it!
