Just saw that unlv lost their starting qb due to a nil dispute. I wonder if hes not getting a specific dollar amount, or not getting paid at all. Seems like there have been rumblings of this happening here and there, and guessing this kind of stuff is going to happen more and more.

Yeah this a wild story. Heard his agent state that assistant coach offered player 100k to play for UNLV. Collective came back a few months later with a contract of 3k for 4 months.

First what the hell was the agent doing to represent the young man properly? Secondly a hand shake will be a learning experience for the player. These are only a few problems.

I keep thinking about if this happened to us. 8 games into the bball season (going undefeated) and we lose a key starter. Yes I would be pissed! But not completely surprised in this day and age.

Twitter/X is losing it's collective minds. He says they promised him money and he didn't get it. The Collective says they never promised him anything. If either of those are true, then I really don't see the problem. If they promised him something and didn't pay him, then he has a right to quit. If they promised him nothing and there was no commitment made at all and he wasn't happy, then he has a right to quit. Players that aren't happy quit all the time.

My GUESS as to what happened was the coach who recruited him was under the usual pressure that football coaches are under to land players, and told him that he could get him $100k in an NIL collective. Perhaps he said this thinking that he could. This is not against the rules. But then when he got there the collective said "Uhhh...NO!" Also not against the rules.

So...he quit. Which is also not against the rules.

I still don't quite see why everyone is going batshit over this. I don't mean on here. I mean across the media and social media.

I don't think that UNLV QB is getting any better offers. The coach might get fired for playing him in the first place.
