What the hell? Are you saying the president has classification authority after he leaves office?

I deflected nothing. I said if laws were broken, hold someone accountable.
Not trying your deflection of raiding a house.
If Trump had complied with earlier requests, they wouldn't needed a warrant to get the rest of the docs.

A VP can declassify documents. Read the link.
Neither he or a president has that power once they leave office.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

Uh, NO ONE said that anyone had authority to declassify after they leave office. Stop putting words that aren’t there.
And no Paul. The VP does not have authority to classify or declassify, unless delegated by the President and the VP is in acting Executive mode: Executive order 13292 by George Bush defines that as such:
) ``Top Secret'' original classification authority may be delegated only
    by the President;
in the performance of executive duties, to the Vice
President; or an agency head or official designated pursuant to paragraph
    (a)(2) of this section.”

Wrong again buddy. Obama never delegated anything to Joe Biden cause as he so eloquently said: “Leave it to Joe Biden to fuck things up”.
Research is your friend. If you had a legit degree from Xavier you’d use it.

Who knows how many more classified documents reside in Delaware since some were discovered elsewhere?
There should be a raid on Biden’s house to investigate and verify!!!!

I appreciate the information on the George Bush Executive Order 13292.

It was superseded by Executive Order 13526 of 12/29/2009. Barack Obama was president.
If you had read what I posted, you would have seen that the Vice President does, in fact, have original authority to classify:

    Sec. 1.3. Classification Authority.

    (a) The authority to classify information
originally may be exercised only by:

    (1) the President and the Vice President;

LOL. Not entirely Mr. Inaccurate, but I will admit that it appears to be up for debate:
“Under the executive order, vice presidents are granted the power to declassify documents they classified themselves. But it’s unclear if the vice president would be viewed as “a supervisory official” with the ability to declassify sensitive documents from the CIA and other intelligence agencies.”

In any event. Biden left office, and the fact is that these discovered documents are from an earlier tenure as Vice President. He would not be able to declassify them now. Point moot.
But it sure seems that there are all kinds of classifieds running around out there.

    Further:
This product provides an overview of common legislative and executive branch procedures for declassifying intelligence. For some procedures, Congress retains the final authority on whether or not to declassify information. For others, the President makes the final determination. Still others can be requested by any U.S. person of an originating agency, which makes the final determination.”

This looks like that deflection stuff I've heard about.
No one has asserted that a President or Vice President who has left office, can declassify anything. I certainly didn't.
So discussion on that point seems to be a deflection.

You noted VP's don't have original classification power from a Bush executive order.
I pointed out that VP's do have original classification power from an Obama order.

I suspect the stuff you are now referring to has to do with a current president, de-classifying old documents...like the example in your link of Biden de-classifying info from 2001.

I haven't seen/heard anything to suggest Biden is trying to declassify what his lawyers found in his old office. Would be interesting as he is the current president, but what a stink would result.

As usual you suspect wrong. The experts all say, including a sitting US Representative, that the Vice President has no power to declassify anything-except it he originally classified it himself, and only in certain cases. That includes Obama’s EO. I’ll believe that over some partisan poster on a message board.
Stop “suspecting” and read. It’s direct.

Who is even talking about declassifying anything? Has Biden claimed he declassified anything?

Is that what you mean by deflection?

Uh, YOU, claiming in post 16472 quoted above regarding declassifying which then caused this latest row. Deflection? No, that is DIRECT.
I am concerned that your warped brain is truly failing.

Man, there's a whole genre of "Ron DeSantis is just the worst" articles these days, and they're all so lame. The NYT has one that says he's being exteme (more extreme that Trump!) by "ignoring unbiased media" (which the NYT hilariously believes applies to them). The Daily Beast has one about Ronny D destroying some poor Florida colllege kids' lives by appointing some conservatives to their colleges Board of Trustees. It just makes these poor kids sad.

So far, it's been hilarious. Hope everyone enjoys this theme for the next 22 months (and the four years after that if DeSantis becomes President).
