Not over in the least. My point was more about fans. How are fans supposed get emotionally tied to a team that is predominantly new each year? There is little to no development, little to no continuity, and if/when the coach leaves the roster is gutted to dust.

ESPN says this about Millier, which is frankly just false. But whatever.
In Miller, Texas gets a coach with a history of success at mid-major and power conference programs, who also was implicated and later cleared in an NCAA investigation into Arizona.

No one should ever use the term "mid-major" for anything. It's lazy, non-descriptive, and so broad that it really has no meaning at all.
There is an exception to this. If you want to think of programs like Iowa, or Clemson, or Kansas State, or programs that oftentimes finish in the middle of the standings of major conferences as being mid-majors, then I suppose that's okay.Last edited by xubrew; 03-25-2025 at 03:17 PM.

It used to be perfectly accurate and very descriptive. There were about 10 major conferences, 10 mid-major conferences, and 10 low major conferences. But the conference carousel has screwed things up so badly that you're right about the current use of the term. Hell, the WAC was a major conference 25 years ago, and now it's about to cease to exist after having been a mid-major AND a low major in the interim.

Just saw the picture where Sean signed his new contract at Texas - in an office overlooking the football stadium. I read the statement he gave as essentially the Buick to Lexus thing again. He mentioned resources and how Xavier is limited. He said we are nice and friendly and all that. He sounded washed up and tired and fake but I am biased.
Ultimately if itÂ’s a new roster every year at all schools, Sean might not be able to do it unless he is the only guy paying players. Maybe he is just cashing in for 1 last time before he starts broadcasting. Perhaps he wastes his cash and needs money. He mentioned getting paid life changing money which he should already have. Maybe he hates being at a small private school without hoards of t shirt fans. Who knows. Aside from the ridiculous loss to UC this year, we got a Sweet 16 and a tourney win over Texas and 3 wins over UConn so IÂ’m happy.

I read the transcript of Miller's press conference today. Here is what he said on leaving Xavier.
"It was a major struggle for me in one sense, and that has nothing to do with the great place that I’m standing at right now. It tugs at your heart when people believe in you. You’ve been in a place for eight years as the head coach, 11 years total, you have family and friends, you become tied to so many of those teams and players moments, and so much of it is doing more with less at a place like that. There’s a lot of pride that starts to become a part of who you are when you’re in that, at the end of the day, this is a life-changing opportunity for me and my family. I believe this, that it gives us the best opportunity to compete for and win national championships".
When Miller left X the first time, he did a press conference at Xavier after accepting the Arizona job. I remember he had a quote about Xavier hitting it's ceiling and chasing Final Fours at Arizona.
The more things change the more they stay the same. It does make me smile that Sean probably had to practice the Hookem sign at his house in Cincinnati.
