Is Chris Mack REALLY a candidate, or is he simply someone that makes sense to...yunno...us, so we're assuming that's who it is?? Like, has X actually reached out to him or made mention that he's who they're considering??

There are worse coaches to hire. I liked him fine when he was here and never had a huge issue with him when he left. In fact I kind of defended him because I felt he kinda got a raw deal at Louisville and actually did better than what he got credit for. He's just not who would top my list now.

But, having said that, I know that my list means absolutely nothing, so...

All sources are pointing to Mack being the lead candidate.

Mack is a proven commodity who we KNOW will have success with our program and conference. He has a high floor and I would argue a reasonably high ceiling. The key here is high floor. I don't want some new coach with a high ceiling but a low floor to step foot here. We should all be incredibly grateful that the interest from Mack is mutual, because anyone else is going to bring legitimate PTSD Steele like concerns.

Sign Mack TODAY and don't waste any more time, this is a NO BRAINER hire.
Unfortunately, it may not mean “he kicked ass.” After all, Sean left at a time when he was not kicking ass. In fact, he left X after a season that was considered below expectations and he even missed the tournament the year before.

If we hire Chris - we need real guarantees in place. Enough of this BS these coaches shovel about how much they really care about being at our university. We need to set up the contract that matches their talk. Our new coach must be expected to meet our X standard (get into the dance and advance more than one game) and if they decide to take off for another job without reaching a Final Four, that new place will have to pay X handsomely.

Just a wild guess, but it's possible that Miller went to the school that gave him the smallest buyout. It's just a guess, if that guess is true GC should have had a list of replacements. It's a day after the official announcement. If GC has done his job, we should know by who the next coach is this week. Tournament isn't even done yet. We have time and the better portal players won't hit until after their teams lose.

It’s def Mack, they are just working things out with the board and are asking for guarantees. He says he won’t leave X ever again. We will see.

Sure he won't lol. I don't even care about that guarantee. It's not needed, at all. Just make the buyout significantly more than what Millers was. Insane how low that was...another fuck up by gc

I don’t know who this Huff guy is. Or several of the other candidates either. But I do know that we’re gonna need to land about 10 guys in the next 45 days. When that phone call gets made, the guy answering the call can’t be like “who?”.

Chris Mack at least has some brand behind him.

If it's Mack, I wonder if Conwell and Traore stay. I'd love for them too, and it would be a solid start to the offseason. I don't expect it, but it sure would be nice.

Mack could bring along Brzovic, and then two of the guards who can fill it up as pieces from Charleston as well as their point guard...this wouldn't be a bad start...really would just need 3-4 impact players.....

    Traore
    Brzovic (6'10 225....not Free kind of range but a good mid-game 18 and 8 at Charleston...can we expect 12 and 6 here?)
    Conwell
    Boyd (6'3 38% from 3) would be a good 6-7 man
Tavarez (6'2 41% from 3) 2 years left...again a good rotational player at this level.
Fulton (6'3 PG avg. 6.5 assists and 1 to)

Maybe in this situation you have your point guard, 5 man and PF secured...with a couple of decent bench pieces. Get a long athletic wing, and another big or two and you have the makings of a good squad.
