Uh oh Hugley is in the portal, what are we going to do? In alll honesty, seems like a good kid and I wish nothing but the best for him. He’s not a high major player though. He should drop down to the a-10 or so level and get his feet back under him

Mack does seem like the obvious choice, but I have a bad feeling about how it will turn out. Hope it's just indigestion!

I think Mack sounds like the choice only if you don't know what your other choices actually are. And there are potentially some good ones.
I'm not saying we should hire Alan Huss, but I'll use him as an example of someone who is currently coaching a team that is unquestionably better than Mack's. He's also spent a lot of time in the Big East and played a key role at Creighton. And I'd also say an outstanding recruiter.
Do I think X should hire Alan Huss?? Well...maybe?? Do I think he is one of several that clearly makes more sense than Chris Mack?? Absolutely!Last edited by xubrew; 03-25-2025 at 08:04 AM.

I know nothing about Huss other than what is public information. What is his temperament like? Calm and cool like McDermott? Fiery like Hurley and Pitino? I did read that his defense left a lot to be desired....anyone we hire, I want a tough d instead of watching guards just blow by our guys time and time again like we have for what feels like a decade now.

Huss was intriguing to me. Would’ve been fine with him or Mack. You’re bringing the winningest coach in program history, who brought the program to its highest point, back. I’m good with that. In a different era, I’d rather give Huss a chance. I just don’t think X has the time or patience someone like Huss might need.
His defense left a lot to be desired, for sure.

If Mack is back (looks likely) then I can at least, HOPEFULLY, finally see a team that can inbound the ball with some level of competence.
We've come a long way since my bench seat at the Fieldhouse!
