Another reason to want to win 2 or 3 (wouldn't that be glorious?) times this week: let's stay the hell away from Dayon!

Perhaps Cunningham was excluding the ACC from the list of power conferences since it's such garbage this year.

X is in about 70% of bracketologist projections right now and I expect that to increase throughout the week prior to the game against Marquette. However, given Cunningham is the chair of the committee I would consider X out of the tournament right now, because UNC is very likely to get in even with a small run. Their first tournament game is against the Notre Dame/Pitt winner.

I think Xavier would get in if today were Selection Sunday. I also think that Xavier is playing better now than what their profile indicates. It took them a while to get fully up to speed, but they are now fully up to speed. It wouldn't shock me to see them win a game in the Big East Tournament. Or two. Or, maybe even one more than two. They've either beaten all the best teams in the league in the stretch run of the season, or they've had those teams on the ropes on the road.
I don't think North Carolina gets in without winning the ACC or somehow beating Duke prior to the final. Every year there is all this alarm over who is on the committee or who is chairing it, and it's never really been a factor that I can tell. Dan Gavitt, David Worlock, and other NCAA staffers are in there. Even if they wanted to the committee members can't just blatantly cut deals with each other. Kentucky's AD was on the committee one year when both Kentucky and La Salle were on the bubble. Everyone was certain Kentucky was going to get selected because of favoritism and they didn't. La Salle did get in. Taking La Salle over Kentucky when Kentucky's AD is on the committee was a pretty strong sign to me that there are guard rails in place to keep that from happening. I for one am not going to get bent out of shape about UNC getting in until it actually happens."You can't fix stupid." Ron White

While bracketologist have X at 70% to 30% in favor of X at the moment, that is based on a large group where any bias pressure is small and diluted. On a 12 person committee where bias is possible it could mean just 1 or 2 votes. UNC doesn't have to get 100% votes. Just 7 of 12.
