Well, if Swain is out for a significant amount of time, all bets are off. However, here is what I think X needs to do to assure itself of getting into the tournament. Have to go 1-1 in the next two. After that, X has to go 8-1 in the remaining 9 games. Sounds extremely difficult. While the rest of the schedule is a lot easier, that's a lot to ask of a team with zero bench production. Fatigue is going to set in. A win last night would have offered a hell of a lot of cushion.

Alright next four gotta go at least 2-2. Those last six pretty much gotta win all of them. Outside of creighton, they’d be considered a bad loss, and x doesn’t have enough big wins to make up for it. Ten games left… think ya gotta go 8-2 to feel safe, so let it be done!

Frankly, just one of: Marquette home loss, UConn road game or St. John’s road game being flipped and we’d be in fine shape. If we pull off an upset at creighton Wednesday I’d feel pretty good about the chances.

Since the St John’s loss at home- Xavier is playing as the number 3 defense in the country. I know it’s only a 5 game sample, but that was against St John’s, Nova, Marquette and UConn.
This is in part why I’d prefer Sean to flip back to his defensive first mindset. Good enough offensive coach to score enough if the defense is great. Zig in the portal (attacking the length/size/defense) while everyone zags (looking for offense).

Obviously we are trending well. However, over the last 6 years doesn’t give me confidence. Meaning, we’ll beat teams like nova and Creighton, but lose to Butler or DePaul. Hopefully that is my PTSD thinking.
Side note: don’t want to diminish those who are actually suffering from PTSD.

Win tomorrow. They do that, it should set up the biggest regular season game in over two years with Creighton coming into Cintas in a few weeks. Lose tomorrow, and it's BE tourney or bust.

After Creighton loss every bracketologist pretty much thought 8-1 was needed to get in. Teamrankings moved Xs shot from 30% to a 22% after the villanova loss. I personally don’t think that’s changed (8-1 being a lock) but what has changed is the hope that it could happen. The lack of urgency and the manor of which they lost (being the better team for 30 minutes) was a glaring issue throughout the season and popped back again. Now needing to reel off 8 seems crazy.
If X is able to win the next 3, Creighton game will be exciting.

I think beating Nova at Nova is difficult. Eric Dixon finally broke out and played at a top player's level those last 10-12 minutes of the game. Thinking he would stay confined was erroneous.
X on paper should beat Providence. X should win the next 4 games "easily" . Who knows about the Creighton game?
