Oh that’s something I hadn’t thought of, their tv revenue! Geezus. What do you think happens to seton hall if they continue down this path in terms of ticket revenue, attendance, branding for the school, costs to operate the sports that don’t make any money etc? There are other factors to consider. Expenses are much higher operating in the big East than a smaller league.

Saw on ESPN that IU was planning on laying off 25 Athletic Department employee as a cost cutting measure in preparation for revenue sharing with players that is coming down the pike….
Also saw an article about how OSU football spent 20M on football NIL and that was essential to their National Championship run.

All this chaos made me think about actual class attendance and maintaining a certain GPA. Does all that go out the window eventually?

Yes.
My guess is that it will within the next three years. I think the next thing the courts will strike down is the NCAA eligibility rules. They've already ruled that players are employees. Next they will rule that the NCAA has no right to make rules about who the schools can and cannot hire or for how long they are allowed to play. Players won't even need to be students anymore.
This also means that a lot of people who work in student-athlete support will be out of a job. And, many probably don't see that coming. They better get their resumes up to date."You can't fix stupid." Ron White

One of my daughter's gymnastics teammates was declared academically ineligible, so it's still a thing. Weird that the only instance of it I'm aware of in the last 20 years is from a MAC women's gymnastics program.
