After 2 games, Claude is 3rd on the team averaging 25 minutes per game. his 1.5 assists per game rank him tied for 7th on the team.

Probably the reason his coach is calling him out publicly to play better.

The leading assist guy is a forward.

A couple of Trojans can certainly handle the ball! I watched highlights of USC vs. Gonzaga. Trojans won by two. It looked like Slajchert was running point. Slajchert (Slackert) is a 6-1, 170-pound guard who transferred to USC from Penn. The sharp-shooting guard played in 74 games at Penn and scored 1,030 points. He has a career free throw shooting percentage of 85.5 (153-for-179) and has made 37.9 percent of his career three-point attempts (121-for-319) entering the 2024-25 season.

But Claude called himself "a true point guard, not just a wing playing point" Also, graduate transfer Matt Knowling 6'6" 200 lb. forward has great quickness and ball handling ability; probably as good as Claude is when dishing the ball. He averaged 10.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in 83 career games at Yale, making 65 starts. Maybe this is the "wing playing point" Des referenced.

Slajchert has averaged 9.5 mins in the 2 real games they’ve played this year.

St. Joes just dropped them in their city round robin. They still have Penn, Temple, Drexel, and LaSalle to go though not sure how they schedule this. I think each team plays 3 teams.

There's two 3-team pods; they all play a Big 5 tripleheader in December at the Wells Fargo Center based on how they finish in their pods. There's a championship game, 3rd place game and a 5th place game.

Villanova finished sixth last year. Sixth. They might be on pace to do it again.

Just saw the clip where Musselman calls out Des. His quote is:

"We gotta get better defensive play out of our point guard. Desmond has gotta step up on both ends of the floor and stay out of foul trouble. Have a bigger impact on the game than he had tonight......he has to be the focal point on both sides of the ball."

I'm guessing foul trouble had limited his mins based on that comment.
