The only thing that matters in a national race is that you do not look bad on TV. Biden's age made him bad on TV. It doesn't matter if his decline, as Woodward claims, was physical and not mental, voters will not forgive looking bad on TV.

Trump is undeniably very good at one thing. He can get people he has absolutely nothing in common with, and doesn't care about at all except when they are cheering for him at a rally, to look at him and think "YES!! THIS IS OUR GUY!!" It's crazy how a guy who literally began his political career by descending down a golden escalator to announce his candidacy, and who probably doesn't even like most of his base, and who would never want to actual spend time with any of them outside of having them cheer for him at a rally, could come across to so many people and get them to think "THIS MAN UNDERSTANDS ME!!"

But, he can do it. He's better at it than almost anyone I've ever seen in my lifetime. It's probably the single biggest reason as to why he'll win the election. And, if somehow he doesn't, he'll still claim that he won, his followers will believe him, and some of them will go so far as to get arrested "for him." AGAIN!

It's actually quite remarkable.
