    Pinehurst

Hello Muskie golfers. Have thought about this for a few years and now with the U.S. open there this week, I’m itching to get down there. For anyone who has been there or known those who have gone, any advice on where to stay within the resort, eat/drink, and what courses to play outside of 2 and 10?

Last question, is there much to do beyond golf there that it would make sense to take the wife or keep it at a guys trip?

He's laughing if you should bring the wives is my guess. Def play #4 and #8. Other courses in the area include but are not limited to- Mid Pines, Pine Needles, Tobacco Road(only if you haven't played before), and Southern Pines.

gotcha. I didn't know if it was like Kiawah where there is a ton of other stuff to do (obviously no beach). Spending that kind of money is more digestible for the wife when she is included :).

I appreciate the tips! I have spent a bunch of time and golfed in SC but never NC. Would love to make it happen.

I've been going to Kiawah since the late 70's...and have never played a round of golf there.
BJ is my designated alternate for all the courses there.
I wanted to play once, but apparently three-digit handicaps are not allowed in a cart.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

Played it several times with my late father in law. There is course called Carolina Trace not too far away that probably has tons of beautiful airbnbs. Beautiful course and clubhouse.

I'll second MidPines, Pine Needles and Southern Pines. The main Pinehurst resort is a golf factory and just overdone. Go over to see it and have a beer but I wouldn't recommend staying there.

Get a house through MidPines and you get preferred tee times for it, Pine Needles and Southern Pines.

We have a group of 12 staying off #10 on Mid Pines end of Oct/early Nov. We do those every 2-3 years.

Yes Mid Pines / Pine Needles is the way to go. Much better golf experience for the amateur golfer and their set up is awesome. Great range, food, bars and accommodations
