    Boum Article on The Athletic

Sorry if this was posted elsewhere but great article about Boum. Here's a little bit that stuck out:

Boum is one of just six Division I players in the last 30 years with more than 2,400 career points, 500 rebounds, 400 assists and 150 steals. He’s played in 158 games and started 122. But until this year, most casual college basketball fans had no idea who he was. Miller and Xavier changed that for him, and he hopes he’s not done returning the favor.

“They trusted me. They invested in me,” Boum says. “They had belief in me from Day 1. They said I was going to do big things here. They worked with me to make me even better than I was when I got here. I appreciate them. I thank them. They let me play point guard and they unlocked and developed some parts of me that I wanted to grow. This was everything they said it would be, and now I just want it to keep going.”

I like the part where Boum left his broken down car in his old coach's driveway when he left for X, and then just left it there for months. Old coach called him and told him to get it out of there, you are making bank with NIL money!!

    Yeah, that was pretty funny!

When I went to Portland for the PK85 games this year I was wearing my X gear and a couple young black dudes started chatting up my son (21 yrs old) and I. Turns out these dudes had grown up with Souley and made the trip from Oakland to watch. One guy said he was his brother but I really think he just meant "thick as brothers". But anyway, these dudes went back to Oakland after the Friday game and then came back Sunday. In any case, we ran into them a bout 5-6 times and chatted each time. They told me that we hadnt seen ANYTHING yet, and we should just give him the ball and shoot everytime!

Anyway, I saw a super quick cut of the Senior Night celebration at Cintas and sure as heck those 2 dudes were on the court with Souley as his guests celebrating his career.

Super cool dudes, and I became an instant fan.

Boum will be taking us to the FF in just over 72 hours by the way....
