The women haven't played a soul, and aren't exactly killing the bad teams they're playing....but they're winning at least. Valpo tonight to try to make it a perfect 4-0. Not sure why Xavier is playing at Valpo, but there it is. And then the women, I suppose, pray for a Covid outbreak in Storrs to avoid having to go to UConn on Saturday.

UConn will be the measuring stick. If they can keep it within 50, I think that will show improvement from last year.
We've come a long way since my bench seat at the Fieldhouse!

Valpo is currently taking our ladies to the woodshed.

Well, that's encouraging. I'm sure Valpo isn't a great team, but they do have wins at Purdue and Illinois to their credit, so they can't be awful. Still don't think Saturday is going to be particularly helpful to our ladies, but there will come a day again when it will be a good thing to get a chance to measure our ladies against UConn.

If Xavier had beaten UConn in 1999 when they had a chance, maybe then Geno wouldn't have been as generous.

5-10, 2-8 with a first round loss to St. John's. Well, how's Melanie doing? The program was such a complete traveshamockery when she showed up, the answer may be "Great!", but interested to hear what people who follow the program more closely think.

I’m not really sure to be honest. Covid, of course, messed everything up this year. They had long quarantines (like the men’s team) and only played half their games. They did win more games this year than all of last year in 13 less games. Coach Moore had a large freshman class this year. Only a couple freshmen got time this year. There will only be a couple of players left from the Brian Neal era next year, so it will mostly be Moore’s team. We need to start seeing forward progress soon. I really like her attitude, so I hope she can get it done.
It’s been 10 years since the program last made a post season. As a huge fan, it has been a long 10 years of losing, non-competitive teams. I feel like writing to Melanie Balcomb and Kevin McGuff to thank them for what they did while they were here.
