Worst-case scenario, how big of a hit would the loss of Steele be to X? I know unlikely, but have to wonder he will get a shot at a HC job in the near future. From my understanding, he is pretty pivotal in recruiting.

Never have understood posting on other school's boards. Read some yes, but keep your opinion to yourself. After all "It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

While I think most of us understand it's likely only a matter of time before Steele gets a head coaching gig somewhere (if he wants one), I think he'd be the obvious choice to be the next HC here should Mack decide to leave in the near future. Granted, Mack leaving anytime soon all of a sudden doesn't look very likely with IU and OSU off the board for the foreseeable future.
My point being that if Steele interviews for, and gets the Butler job, there goes almost any chance of him coming back here as HC. If Steele were to leave for a HC position, I'd much rather it be in the MAC or Horizon League in order to leave open the possibility of a return to X down the road.
