Well done.

I don't care what anyone has to say about him as a coach - and he certainly enjoyed a fine reputation in that regard - but he was a true ambassador of Xavier University. Xavier is better for having him associated with us.

I said it once, and I'll say it again. There are two Cincinnati sports figures for whom I shed a few tears when they passed away. One was Skip Prosser. The other was Joe Nuxhall.

Both were true gems of our city, and both are missed tremendously.

What a tragedy. Xavier is a better place b/c of Skip.

I actually met Dean Hood, head coach for Eastern KY football, and he happened to be an assistant at WF during the same years that Skip was there. I asked if he got to know Skip and, of course, he did.

Told me a story about how the Athletic Dept. staff meetings were always boring so he started making it a habit to find Skip and sit with him. Said Skip was always making little jokes and references that made those meetings tolerable. He told me that one time he thought he was going to get in big trouble with the AD because he was laughing so much, while Skip just kept his straight face and cracking one-liners.

He also confirmed something that most of us already know. Skip was a basketball coach, but his primary concern wasn't with the W-L record. It was about the kids, coaches, staff he worked with. He cared about them as people far more than any winning percentage. There really aren't enough Skip Prossers out there.
