Jimmy 2Times.......when you see comments like this it should really bring into focus the mentality of the person you're arguing with. Thank goodness we have visionaries to counter this myopic, backwoods way of thinking. I have more nieces and nephews than I can count who have hi-tech/finance/marketing jobs, who live in urban settings, and who don't own cars or want to deal with a yard. The same type of individuals we want to see populate downtown, OTR, Liberty Hill, and Vine St up to Clifton.

I'd feel a lot better about a billion dollar commitment to a comprehensive plan that integrates multiple forms of public transport throughout the region, even if it's spread out over 30+ years. At least it's a comprehensive plan instead of "Let's spend $150M to build a loop connecting 2 limited areas and continue to not support existing bus service and refuse to support other regional public transport attempts because we want to focus on our pet streetcar."

Recent news does not bode well for the future economic bounty we will one day supposedly reap from the streetcar.

The proceeds from the Casino, you know the money that was supposed to end the need for school funding, reduce our income and property tax burden, etc, etc, is already being spent, and not on reducing our tax burden. 50% is being promised to the Port Authority so it can start a new development initiative. So why do we believe that any increased tax income from development near the streetcar will be used to reduce the tax burden and not to fund new projects?

And refusing to simply support the county in its bid for public transport suggests we won't get the regional cooperation needed for later expansion and integration.

All in all, the group behind the streetcar does not seem to be looking past the first round of funding and the the first few miles of the path. They are probably counting on leveraging early success (which always comes with that kind of money) into higher office or more lucrative private sector jobs and figure they won't be around when the fit hits the shan anyway.

Can we somehow vote out council and vote in 3CDC? I know it has its detractors but they seem to be the only ones able to get something done in this town and see it through to a productive conclusion.

If the plan is to rapidly post, always get the last word in, and say everyone is wrong without any factual information - then you are succeeding. I don't think anyone hates you. But somehow you've managed to take a productive conversation and turn it into you a bizarre thread for your own entertainment.

Looking at previous threads you've posted in, it looks like you did the exact same thing to those. Insulted people, told everyone they are wrong or lying, and rapid posting. You told PMI, PM, DC, XU_95, XU_87, Kahn, and everyone else they were wrong/ignorant/stupid about the A10

I feel sorry for you that you have missed the points that 87, DC and I made to show the streetcar to be a foolish venture.

It's totally pointless to argue with LH. It's like the old "UC is a lock for the tournament". Even when UC went to the tournament, LH was still insisting I was wrong and he was right. The streetcar could be full to capacity on every single run from the first day, and LH will still insist it's a failure, like he's somehow now arguing that he didn't call downtown a ghost town.

At this point, arguing against the streetcar is pointless. It's coming. You might as well argue that winter will be a failure. To me, the logical thing would be if every stakeholder in Cincinnati or Hamilton county would be thinking of ways the streetcar can be successful. Your tax dollars are paying for it, after all.
