Semaj Christon – Possible Junior Campaign
Hopefully the MODs don’t mind but I broke this off into its own thread. Obviously the other thread can discuss his NBA prospects. This one can discuss what might be a (potentially) very surprising turn of events.
I heard this weekend from a person that is typically spot on about this stuff that Semaj is strongly considering reversing course and returning to Xavier. According to this person - to this point Semaj has not hired an agent, met with any agents, nor has he relocated somewhere to begin training for the Draft. I was told he initially started exploring these steps but has since paused, and remains in the deliberation stage.
I checked the other boards before positing this and didn’t see anything shared. Maybe as the week goes on and the deadline looms closer we will hear more information.
If Semaj opted to return it would obviously be the most positive momentum swing for X since Dave West opted to come back… All things considered - $100,000,000 later - that doesn’t look like too bad of a decision for Dave.
I know this…there will be a beer or two knocked back in his honor if he comes back to X!

Per NCAA rules, players who do not declare for the draft and who do not hire an agent must withdraw their name from consideration by April 15 to retain their college eligibility.
Because it makes all kinds of sense to have different deadlines between the NBA and NCAA.

The only reason I could think of the NCAA having it on the 15th is because the late signing period opens on April 16th I believe. By the decision being made by the 15th, it allows coaches to better plan for next year.
Regardless, the 15th is way too soon for this decision deadline and ends up burning a lot of kids who don't have the opportunity to properly get evaluated.
Also Semaj has not signed with an agent. He very possibly could come back next season. It's unlikely IMO, but possible.

This is what any smart governing body would do. Remember this is the NCAA making the decisions though.

Semaj, I think is one of those players that teams won't see the upside from but in the end will end up better than a lot of guys drafted ahead of him.
Edit: I think he is gone. In one week's time, it will be official and if Mack and Co. keep going after one more guy we know there is a surprise transfer in the mix. Randolph would be my thought even though I really like the kid a lot. Any transfer right now besides Kamal is a disappointment to me at this time.
Really? Anthony Bennett was the #1 pick. Last years draft is being talked about as one of the worst draft classes of all time. Granted that is based of of only one years worth of playing but last years draft doesn't even come close to this years.
