[QUOTE=XU 87;213719]If you haven't been there and you like Sushi you should go. I assume you are talking about Mr. Sushi. I go there a couple of times a month for lunch and I love it.

Could you expand on that?
Portland doesn't have an Over The Rhine. We do. It is a difference between us and Portland. Portland has a street car. People love it. We love Portland's streetcar and we want it too. We are going to put it right through Over The Rhine. Here is the catch: What is successful in Portland might not be successful in Over The Rhine.
Hey look, there is an Elephant in the room.
LH,
Why do you insult people with an opposing point of view? I realize you are passionate in your opinion that it will fail and you think its right, but other people have opposing opinions based on other facts/figures/studies/analysis as well.
XU_87, Snipe, Boozehound, Drudy and others are making good arguments with valid points that are against the streetcar -*supported with facts *- without insulting people, why can't you? They are informative and don't feel the need to bash someone who supports the project every chance he gets. This project has many valid arguments that support both sides of the debate and I know you are well aware of them being as passionate as you are. However, it doesn't reflect in your writing. This is what I've seen from your posts:
1) You claim downtown is a "ghost town", which it is not.
2) You claim people are "ignorant", should "learn to read", or call them names because they don't agree with you.
3) You claim Rookwood Pottery is "lying" about the letter they sent to the city(which I attached) and its involvement in the streetcar project. Conspiracy?
4) You claim the grocery store is lying about moving near the line. Another conspiracy?
5) You claim Downtown is developing without the streetcar, so we don't need it. You don't want to potentially capitalize on any momentum the city has at the moment?
6) You ignore studies and facts and figures and analysis (I assume they are lying as well unless of course they support your argument)
What's amazing is most supporters and non supporters readily admit to the fact that it could succeed or fail. We are all honest about it. Kahn has stated numerous times "it's an investment". I have stated its a risk. We acknowledge that its a gamble and that it could fail. But most also acknowledge that it could succeed
You, on the other hand, know it will fail. How? I want to know specifics that our city leaders and planners did not think of.
Honestly, this thread was much more informational for people wanting to learn both sides of the argument until you hijacked it. Rapid posting of insults is just not a very efficient way to get your point across.
I'm not insulting anyone but nice try.
1) It is indeed in the time frames I mentioned.
2) If people misquote me then they need to learn to read.
3) They clearly are trying to use revisionist history as they took state money for their move.
4) There is no evidence they opened the store due to the streetcar. Sorry
5) Why spend money the city does not have the luxuary to spend when development is taking place WITHOUT the streetcar. This is also a FACT, not a CLAIM.
6) What studies?
Also, many of the claims in your 1-6 were made by 87 and others.
Perhaps you are new to the area. Do you remember the promises of the revitalized downtown when the two new pro stadiums were built?
Do you know that streetcars have failed before here?
You need a history lesson and need to get out and see how people that live in this region travel from A to B.
1) You say its a ghost town at night on the weekdays? Not true
2) There were no misquotes. They were exact quotes from you
3) What is their motive? Why do you think Rookwood pottery would conspire and go to great lengths to lie in a public letter? What is in it for them? What is to gain?
4) There is evidence for and against the store opening - you just refuse to look at it fairly
5) Can the city afford to do nothing? Why not capitalize on the momentum downtown? The federal money is going to a streetcar or rail system somewhere in the US, why not here with all the development going on? The fact that they think the Cincinnati plan has the potential to be better than any other plan speaks volumes.

1) It is true.
2) Wrong. Kahn's misquoted or misunderstood.
3) 87 explained this and so did I.
4) Wrong. The statement about it being on the streetcar line was NOT in quotes. Nice try.
5) The city and 3CDC are doing plenty. We cannot afford the money they want to spend on this fool's errand.
The studies use HOPE and COULD a whole heck of a lot. Meaningless really.
