Interesting points. If you believe that talking to young women about the pitfalls of having unprotected sex is considered 'behavior control', then absolutely sign me up. I have 2 daughters myself and I'm not dumb enough to think that abstinence is the only way. But I will 100% preach to them that if the options are to A) have unprotected sex and roll the dice or B) exercise some self control and save it for a rainy day. My expectation will be that they choose choice B. I'm also raising them to understand that being on the spectrum of promiscuity represents a lack of self respect.

Now to your second paragraph: I'll start by saying you aren't nearly as smart as you think you are, my guy. You aren't qualified to opine about my motivations. You simply don't know me well enough to understand these things. You might want to consider getting over yourself, or better yet do a little fact finding or be inquisitive before saying something so obtuse.

I also have a daughter and am also not dumb enough to believe she is going to wait until marriage, but if she so chooses to make a bad decision (such as sex without protection, and it comes with consequences, then she will face those consequences.

If you think "no waters need to be navigated" news flash there is a reason that idiom exists (navigating uncharted waters). We live in a world with things no parent has ever handled. I had friends that were bullied, their bullying stopped only when I was around or when they went home. Now with social media, it continues on the interweb regardless of where you are. I know parents who are clueless to that. They also fail to understand that not only do smart phones give their kids access to the world, but more importantly it gives the world access to your kids. They also don't understand what that access does to dopamine levels in the human brain. How do you think the above could have contributed to the current behavior of every generation went through their youth with this kind media?

Something to think about…

I’m willing to bet the chances that everyone reading this knows someone who has had an abortion, and has no idea that person ever had an abortion. The majority of abortions aren’t surgical. It’s most commonly done with the pills. No one ever knows or realizes they were pregnant. Not their parents, siblings, roommates, friends, or the father of the child. And, it makes complete sense to me why someone in that situation would never want to tell anyone.
