Politics Thread

It's a problem that the fringe of both parties, the people that even those within each party would rather do without, seem to be steering the directions of the parties and the country. Most Republicans don't want or like Trump. But the ones that do want him would torpedo the party and make it impossible for them to win anything if they went in another direction. I think the same is true (at least to a degree) with the Democrats. Now...what can be done to change that?

You have got to think that if trump loses again, the Republican side would sort itself out. They haven’t won a popular vote since what 04?

Maybe soften the rhetoric, and talk policy instead of spending two hours talking about migrants taking over the world would be a start?

Trump was absolutely terrible last night, all he had to do was repeatedly say she has had four years to do the things she claims she’s going to do, and leave it at that. Then, talk about actual policy. He just couldn’t do it. He sounded like an angry buffoon.

I’m no fan of Vivek but could you imagine what he would have done to her? He would have undressed her, and she would have come out looking like a complete idiot

Other than wanting to outlaw abortion and gender surgery for kids.....what other extreme ideology is on the right? Almost all of the extreme insanity lives in the Democrat party. Looks like your going to get a front row seat for some of it.

Really? How about zero gun control, deporting 11 million immigrants, and racial supremacism just off the top of my head. There is plenty of nuttiness on both fringes

You've been talking about replacing the ACA for 10 years, and when asked about your plan to do that, your answer is:
"I have concepts of a plan"
I'm not confident you even understand what policy means.

It's obviously the people of the party and not the establishment that will have to decide to make that change. The Republican establishment never wanted him and has tried to get rid of him several times, only to get repeatedly embarrassed in primaries.

The Republican Party is never, ever going back to be the party of Reagan and Bush (and probably shouldn't as times change). They need to eventually transition away from being the party of Trump, or at least they need to find someone who can more eloquently articulate the well of emotions that Trump has obviously tapped into .

The Democrats are never going back to being the party of Clinton and Gore, either. What they HAVE managed to do is generally keep the adults nominally in charge. They may be loathsome, awful adults, but they've kept the Omars, Bowmans, Bushes and Tlaibs neatly and powerlessly off to the side performing their freak show.

Regarding health care, let’s be honest right now, neither side has any interest in fixing it. They both get extremely rich from the way it is right now. All aca did was put more money in their pockets and f most of those that already had insurance.

What I mean by going back is not by going back to being Bush and Reagan, but more to general ideas/policy. Fiscally Conservative, family values etc. Stop with the angry rhetoric about everything including pointing fingers at the media, the fringe left etc. Yes network media is biased, great. It always has been, get over it.

Go back to focusing on policy and working on actual solutions to our problems. All I heard from Trump is angry rhetoric that only his base gives a crap about, and from Harris continuous lies about what Trump has said or done.
