-A teenager rang the wrong doorbell
-A six year old went after his ball that went into someone else's yard
-A cheerleader opened the wrong car door, apologized for the mistake, and after getting into the correct car was shot along with the others who were in the car
-Someone pulled into a driveway to turn around
How could ANYONE be in this situation and feel like their safety is being threatened?? Much less threatened to the point of needing to use lethal force to defend yourself?? These people are either so paranoid that they need to be placed in an institution, or for whatever sick reason they were looking for a reason to shoot someone. People who feel like lethal force is an appropriate response because a six-year-old's basketball rolled into their yard should categorically NOT own a gun! They shouldn't be walking around at all because the outside world just may not be for them. Tell the girlscouts that when they go out into the neighborhoods to sell their cookies they better watch the fuck out!!!
None of these people were in any danger whatsoever and had no reason at all to think that they were. Has no one ever rang their doorbell before?? Has a child's ball never gone into their yard before?? Has no one ever pulled into their driveway to turn around before?? These are normal every day occasions that can now get you shot??
At what point do we start putting parameters and restrictions on guns?? That's not the same as repealing the 2nd Amendment, and anyone who says that it is is a fucking idiot. The FIRST Amendment has limitations. No one, and I do mean NO ONE, would spend more than five seconds listening to some sicko trying to argue that the 1st Amendment protects his right to produce and distribute child pornography. Anyone who tried to argue that was some constitutional crisis would be beaten unconscious right on the spot. NO ONE disputes that!! No one thinks that's a violation of the 1st Amendment. It also guarantees freedom of religion, yet religious cults can still be prosecuted. It guarantees the right to assemble, but there are parameters on that as well.
SO WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE ALWAYS AGAINST EVEN DISCUSSING PUTTING PARAMETERS AT ALL ON THE 2ND AMENDMENT???? If the very idea of child pornography laws being revoked sickens you, then the idea of children getting shot should also sicken you! Let's try and reduce the likelihood of such things happening!! I would hope people would think that people who getting senselessly shot more and more often and us not doing anything about it would be a violation of The Preamble.
I understand wanting to buy guns for purposes that are very much within the law. But wouldn't it be in EVERYONE's best interest to try and make it harder for people who want to buy guns simply because they want to shoot someone to get them?? We can do that without revoking or even violating the 2nd Amendment. Especially if know the history of it and why it's there (which I'm convinced most American's don't). Hell, the actual verbiage of it is WELL REGULATED MILITIA. One could argue we are all in violation of the 2nd Amendment right now because we do such a poor job of regulating it. Hell, we are among the worst in the world at regulating it!!
Why should civilians carry and use military rifles? There are so many options.
And how do you propose to “make it harder for people who want to buy guns simply because they want to shoot someone to get them??”? There are patient confidentiality laws that make it tough to factor in medical and psychological records in background checks. You certainly won’t get a truthful answer if a question on a form to buy a gun is “Do you want to shoot someone?”.Quote:

However, the gun debate has several layers. For example, a loaded gun itself doesnÂ’t kill someone. A human kill someone. Why do we have an increase of humans killing humans? Why does this generation of humans kill more humans? I think there is more to this than gun control. Around 2000, we saw a major technology boom which has allowed this generation to have easy access to all sorts of content and information. In the past 10 years, adolescents and children have access to the internet through cell phones. I truly believe that we will find out in the next couple of decades the negative impacts cell phones are having on our young generation of kids. We have also seen an increase in poverty, political hate, loss of community (especially with Covid lockdowns) which have all negatively impacted our country. This problem wonÂ’t get better only through gun control. There are bigger societal issues that needs to be addressing.Quote:
