College Football 2024

So, for all of those that said for years that a playoff would ruin the regular season, can we now agree that the complete opposite is true? How awesome were these last couple of weeks?? And, just think of how great so many other seasons would have been had they done this sooner!!

Also, another example of collective moronic-ness were how many people would always say "Well, they'll never get rid of the bowls. Those things make too much money." Nevermind the fact that literally every team who opts to go to a bowl game LOSES money!!! I think we're about to see just how much money a playoff does make compared to one-off meaningless glorified exhibition games, and how much money had been left on the table for the last...oh...40 years or so.

This happened way too late. And, I still think all 10 conference champs should get to go and the field should be 16. So, it's not perfect, but it's close enough! It's certainly better than it was before! Army didn't get in, but they had a chance. Had they beaten ND they'd be in. Last year and every year prior to that it wouldn't have mattered. At least now the field is big enough that everyone has a path at the start of the season. No one is eliminated because of an assumption.

It’s great but a few changes I’d make. Qrts should be at home sites, and aqs should be eliminated. Seed it like basketball 1-12. Top 4 get byes

I disagree on AQs. I like the top 5 conference champ concept. I like the threat of two of the G5 conferencees potentially knocking one of the P4s out (like would have happened this year if Army had beaten Notre Dame). Without the AQs, you're still eliminating teams before the season starts, and I think everyone should have a path like they do in every other sport. Also wihtout AQs I think you might find a committee considering an all-SEC and Big Ten field one of these years.

But I would get rid of the requirement to be a conference champ to get a bye. The seeding is a nightmare (well, not really a nightmare because it's not that deep, but still screwed up) because of the wrong teams getting byes.

Yeah on second thought I'm fine with AQs, its the getting a bye just because you are an AQ im not a fan of.

Hearing rumblings of sellers to auburn. That’d suck for South Carolina.

All indications currently that Louisville will keep Isaac Brown and Duke Watson. That would be a huge start on 2025. Pretty comfortable that Brohm will get a capable portal QB (Miller Moss will visit this week).

I was one and it was clearly wrong. End of the season was exciting, but we needed a Clemson upset to right the playoff ship and get 'Bama out. The committee just wanted to shoehorn in some 3 loss SEC team at the expense of Miami.

No, teams that go to bowls don't lose money. Major conferences pool bowl money of participants and allocate it across the conference. Even bad teams in good conferences are making bank.
