Let’s ignore things have changed since Jan and Biden slept on vacation.

But they didn’t pull all the troops out and were still negotiating terms based on Taliban behavior with benchmarks. Wasn’t a done deal.
Biden has been in office since January and set this date in May. Even Biden friendly CNN says he screwed up.
Worst of all is that Biden just up and left all the damn high tech weaponry there that is now in the hands of terrorists and can be sold to the Chinese to analyze our defenses. Trump can’t be blamed for that stupidity.

Oh, and this from the definitely not right wing Daily Beast:
“ The Afghan Air Force didn’t take flight because — God help us — Joe Biden refused to let outside maintenance crews into Afghanistan, effectively grounding the fleet.”
It's been a clusterf since Tora Bora in 11/2001. Should have dropped an A Bomb on Binnie and called it a day. Perfectly justified imho after 9/11. Same with Hanoi.
Biden’s Presidency is an abject disaster. America burns while he sleeps.
Still waiting for Paul to list all those “Good Things” that Joe Biden has done in his Presidency.
Trump is gone. Convicted of nothing. Talk about now Paul
I'm glad we are out of that shithole and it was always going to descend into chaos when we left...that part was a given.
That being said, this whole situation has been completely devoid leadership. How do you NOT address the American people while this is going on? How do you allow your press secretary to take a week off while the impact of your single-largest foreign policy decision plays out on television? Our president is weak.
At least there are a few interesting and substantive posts in this idiot-fest of a thread, not just 'Trump did everything right and Biden screwed it up' or 'this is all Trump's fault'.
I agree with Smails - this was probably always going to happen, but it doesn't mean that Biden didn't screw it up pretty royally. The lack of visible leadership coupled with a poorly orchestrated exit is on the current administration. I realize that the Trump administration did some things that are contributing to the problems we are facing now, but you are the President. That fact that they seem so surprised by the rapid deterioration is concerning. I don't think the the Trump administration would have necessarily presided over a smooth and orderly exit, but I think it would have been better than this.
The bigger failure is the fact that in 18 years all we were able to accomplish was killing Bin Laden (which was awesome- don't get me wrong) and installing a government that was so obscenely corrupt and inept that it collapsed immediately upon our withdrawal. They had 18 years to stand up a semi-functional government and this is the best they could do. It just shows that withdrawal was the right thing to do, unless we wanted to stay there (literally) forever.
If anyone thinks this is a Democrat vs Republican thing, I think that they are a complete idiot. This is about America, or anybody else, trying to impose a Western style government on a people that are not equipped to live that way. The results were consistent across both Republican and Democratic administrations. We need to stop trying to do it.
The fact that Biden disappeared to Camp David and his press secretary has her out of office email response on are just absolutely ridiculous.
