I can't wait to see the overly sensitive, politically correct media make a big deal about this.

I saw this reported either yesterday or the day before and they really didnt make a big deal about it, at least on ESPN. They pointed out the rule in the NCAA rule book that said this was acceptable.

Gambling is general is fine. Betting on sporting events is a huge no-no (although horse racing and jai alai are allowed).

I'm sure the NCAA worries about some of these guys losing a bunch of money at a casino, though, and finding ways to work with a bookie to get some of that money back shaving points.

This is the biggest non-story the media has pushed in awhile. He did not break the law and he did not break any NCAA rules. What's the problem? Douchers like Plaschke and Mariotti about had a shitfit when they heard Lawson was gambling.

I hate to use this cliche, but I thought this was America.

That alone means that every one of us should be 100% in favor of him doing it!

I have first hand knowledge that Xavier players have won a lot more than $250 in a casino while on road trips. The casinos in and near Detroit, as well as the casinos in Atlantic City a short drive from Philly, are very easy to get to when playing in the Atlantic 10.

If this is a story, I imagine it could be reported a few hundred times per NCAA basketball season across the country.

I'd like to know a little something about Kemba Walker from UConn's gambling history. My God he was horrible tonight.

I went to Puerto Rico in '98 (I think) when the Muskies played down there. I seem to recall that the players were kept out of the casino, but it may have been a team rule rather than an NCAA rule.

For our players, there would be no reason to hit a casino in Detroit. I have no idea if there are casinos anywhere near UNC. If not, I can't blame them for taking the opportunity while in Detroit.

While it doesn't break any rules, if I were a coach, I'd prefer my players not spend time in a casino a day or two before they compete for a national championship. If I could have whatever I wanted, the kids would get an extra day or two to take in the sights after the games were over.
