I guess the Great Gonzaga/UNC Debate is Settled

Okay, there wasn't a real debate. Just Snipe voting Gonzaga number one over UNC in late November/early December in the XHoops poll. It was an interesting thought, but it looks like the issue has now been settled.

In my preseason poll I had Lousiville as #1. That didn't turn out so bad.

I picked the Zags to beat UNC in my pool too. My pool is pure garbage. From looking at it you would think I had not watched any college basketball. I root for the Zags. I think the time has come for us to play them on CBS or ESPN in prime time during the season. It would be a game of national interest without any BCS powers.

Then make a call to the Zags and tell them to grow a pair and play us. I think it has been talked about enough on the boards that X has tried to get them on the schedule but Gonzaga won't do it. I would love to see that home-and-home happen.

I still remember that interview with Bobo last year when he said Gonzaga wouldn't play us even though we said name the time and date and we'll head to Spokane. I lost a lot of respect for the "Zags" after that. And I'm still bitter about them being such a media darling. (sorry, can't help it) And isn't it nice to know we did as well as Gonzaga when this was suppose to be their year and it was a "rebuilding" year for us?

Gone-zaga was exposed last night. If Patty Mills wouldn't have been hurt, St. Mary's would have won the WCC, Gone-zaga would have had a worse seed and been knocked out earlier.

Sorry, I'm with those who are sick of the "Zag-love" especially after how they didn't think that we were worth scheduling. Enough, already.

You guys need to quit with the Zag envy. They are a fellow Jesuit institution from a smaller conference. I have always liked the Zags.

I am still bitter about the narrow loss to them with Morrison. We could have had them and been playing Indiana for the Sweet 16. And we were playing well to boot.

I think the Zags have a full plate. Their non-conference is packed with great programs. If they are going to play us it will have to be a CBS or EPSN prime time game. If the networks want something like that I think both the Zags and Xavier will comply.

I think at this point the game should be a no-brainer, but I am biased. It would be a great game and it is something we should try to get done. I know Bobinski has tried in the past and the problem has been on their end. I bear no ill will. I would like him to try again.

They won't make or break our schedule though, which looks to be strong again. I expect his tenure on the selection committee will only help as he meets more movers and shakers and other AD's in Division 1. Bobinski is no longer a rising star, he is a star in his own right.
