Why, you might ask.
First of all, a lot of Tweople like me would enjoy it. It would be kind of cool to get updates from Sean on whether he likes The Office or 30 rock better....or if he has a headache.
Beyond that, the kids out there love to Twitter. I think it would really help recruiting.
And the offseason has officially begun at xavierhoops.com...

surprisingly, the youngin's are NOT using twitter as much as you would think. twitter is more of a young profressional social networking tool. additionally, african americans are a small majority (7%) of twitter users... so i don't think it would be an effective use of coach's time for recruiting. if he wants to do it for shits and giggles to pander to the AFO club, that might be better, but he has to choose an audience to be most effective.

Actually I bet that twittering to gain a recruiting edge is a recruiting violation, so lets keep the coach out of trouble and keep him off facebook and twitter.

I'm sure Coach has much better things to do with his time (family comes to mind) than mindlessly tweet. Also I think the NCAA might have issues with inappropriate contact with recruits (see UConn).

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, never. I HATE twitter. It's right up there with dayton, which is a lot of hate. Talk about an over exposed medium that has no real world application except for comedy, see @azizansari, @fakerickreilly and @kinglaserface. Who gives a shit what is happening in your life every fucking second. No one, that's who. No one cares that you are on the way to grocery store, so stop it already with the tweets, you pretentious prick. I HATE twitter.

you guys are lame. just stay in the 1990's and watch X's relevancy decline.
Hopefully Bobinksi reads this board and comes across this great idea. I think Miller might be open to this if it comes from Bobinski.

Here's a write-up explaining what coaches can and cannot do with regard to Twitter/Facebook/etc according to NCAA regulations. I'm not expert on the rules, but it sounds about right and is cites some sources.
http://john-infante.com/2008/12/13/can-college-coaches-use-twitter/
Basically, it sounds like "posting" a reply to a recruit's Twitter account would be an infraction (think of the "Wall" on Facebook) because you're replying in public. But a "direct" reply is fine and would be classified just like an email.
As anyone who follows Twitter feeds can tell you, they can be extremely interesting or horribly boring and pointless. Sean's headache = boring. Yesterday's practice = interesting.

Twitter will become what disco was to the 1980s ... "Remember when all those dumb a$$es used to Twitter in 2009?," followed by a big, hearty laugh.

God I hope so. I'm already laughing.
I don't need to know meaningless drivel from people going about their day.

if you are following people that use it incorrectly (a la telling you every intimate detail of your day), you are not following the right people. depending on your business or area of expertise, there are many influential and knowledgeable folks out there who can become a great source if inspiration, ideas or conversation. twitter certainly is important, but like everything else, it is a tool, and if not used properly, is worthless.

Everyone poked fun at my twitter idea.
If Sean would have used Twitter, we would have been up to date with how he felt. I'm sure he would have twittered sunday night, "Told everyone that I'm staying at X. Now I have second thoughts"
