"It cost Pitt a highly-rated recruit. It was total bush-league childish crap."
What is, what Sean allegedly did eons ago, or bitching about something that happened eons ago on a message board? Seriously, that guy makes Eastside J look like Albert Einstein.

Wow. And I thought some Xavier fans were out of touch for still hating Matta. How long ago was that alleged incident with Miller, like 15 years?
By the way, ATL, nice touch on the Boston Massacre avatar.
Didn't it have to do with his brother? I thought Archie had committed to Pitt and then followed Sean to NC State. Whatever.

No what they said was that there was an opening for assistant coach on Pitt's team and Sean wanted either his brother or his dad to get the spot and they didnt. But now that I think of it would his brother wouldnt have already been out of college as Sean coached him at ASU right? So this guy is a moron.

I love that they don't like him. Hopefully their administration feels the same way.
Typical Iron City Beer guzzlers.

Archie went to NC State from 1998-2002. His bio said Sean coached him for 3 years there. I thought there was some story about that. Miller started coaching at NC State in 1996, so I don't know if that's a connection or not, but he was an assistant at Pitt in 1995-1996.

It's funny. I've heard from three people whom I trust as having very good inside info who have said that there are a very, very, very small handful of programs that might have a shot of prying Miller away from Xavier, and that Pitt is definitely NOT one of them.
From the commentary from their fanbase, I can see why he wouldn't go back and coach there.
Interestingly, Sean Miller has already taken Xavier further than Pitt has ever gone in the NCAA Tournament. If they were to beat us, it would be there first-ever Elite Eight.

I've heard the same thing. I've heard that Pitt is not the "dream job" to Miller that some are making it out to be.
Also, Pitt made the Elite Eight in 1974 and the Final Four in 1941.
Wow, I hope we own Pitt just to screw them for their slander about a good man and his entire family. What douchecakes.

You're right about 1941. Of course, the NIT was still king back then, and by a long shot. I was looking at the fact that they only won a single game in that season, but there were far fewer teams.
Regarding 1974, you're right. I was looking at wins and thinking they couldn't have gone to the Elite Eight, but forgot that 2 wins actually got you there back then (only 32 teams in the tourney). There were an Elite Eight team then.
This year could be the first season they've ever won 3 games in an NCAA Tournament.

hmmmm, not quite sure what to make of that. Although, I will say it is very odd to see incriminating stuff said about Sean Miller when we all treat him like a god on Earth (which he is)

I heard about this a while ago. I'm sure there is much more to the story than the Pitt faithful know about. Would Sean Miller, in an act of revengeful rage, really screw over the university for a recruit because they wouldn't hire his brother. I doubt it.

One mans king is another mans fool.
We all think that Miller can walk on water, and some Pitt fans despise him. The reality is somewhere in the middle.
Edit. Also, if you think about it, Miller had to make a choice, if what they said was true. Does Miller stay on with Pitt, wait until after LOI day to declare that he is leaving? If he did that, and he had been the main recruiter of a big time recruit, how do you think it would have gone over with the kid who "might" have been signing to be under Miller?
It makes no sense. Either he screws over the school, or he screws over the kid. Or he stays and is unhappy. Miller made the correct choice in my book because he would not only be changing his own life, but quite possibly the life of the recruit, if it actually went down that way, which I doubt. They sound like they would want Miller to stay and be their recruiting mercenary, which is most definitely not who he is...
I HATE dayton.

I agree with the "edit" section. The story told by Pitt fans at their board doesn't strike me as the whole story..
But come on. the whole, "the truth lies in the middle" saying doesn't make much sense here.

I was taking the high road Guy. I don't know the whole story, and I seriously doubt they do either. They just sound like sour grapes to me. Really old sour grapes too.

Yes, sour grapes from one of your best all time players.
It's Pittiful (ha, I'm awesome). To be honest, I think less of Pitt fans for having such a gripe.

The guy who started the post is actually a mod on the Pitt board in question, but his view doesn't seem to be indicative of their fanbase as a whole.

I agree with that. I know a big Pitt fan who lives in the area and she thinks the world of Miller and the X program. The others need to get over it.

I got a good laugh from this post from the said thread:
From what I know, and what I've heard from folks I trust- Bucco and Souf are right.
JO and Miller Sr. did everything they could to hurt Pitt hoops for almost 20 years.
Magliore was being recruited by Sean and committed to KY after Sean left.
In additon, Archie Miller had committed to Willard at PG but was not signed yet. Pitt had backed off other PG's. Archie decommitted when Sean left and signed with NC State- where he started several years. So Sean cost us TWO good players.
However, the powers that be have extended the olive branch to Sean and he has accepted. It would not surprise me if Sean becomes a candidate, perhaps THE candidate, if Arizona's quiet courtship of Jamie were to succeed.
So Sean Miller and company hated Pitt so much that they ruined the program for 20 years.
Yet, if Pitt asked Miller to be the head coach, he'd leave in a heartbeat.
Ha!!!! funny stuff.

Uh yeah, I was curious to see how dumb I could make him look after that comment. It only took Google and 7 seconds of my time to do just that. I usually don't let fictional statements get to me, lol.
