Common denominator for these three is that they are in the BCS conferences. But are they better than Xavier, and what Xavier has done? Of course not.

So let me spell this out. Conference affiliation is not, and should not be used as a single forecastor whether or not a team is a good "major" program or not. And so, the "mid major" tag is used by the lazy and ignorant (you Mr. uw_hoops) who use it when they need a simplistic label for a basketball program.

But hey, whatever makes you feel superior, when in reality if you look at my signature, it shows just how little you know, not just about Xavier, but about college basketball in general.

Uh no, actually it started in the media, and as has been stated ad nauseum, it hurts recruiting for said "mid major" programs. Many a coach has said the "mid major" label is an unfair and untrue label.

Think about it. A highly touted high school senior is being recruited by, let's say, oh I dunno, UK, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Xavier. All have offers, those other coaches can use it against X as a selling point for their own program. "We are Michigan State, choose us, we aren't a mid major like Xavier, we are in a BCS conference." could be a way to denigrate the program, belittling Xavier as not an equal program with the likes stated above.

Thankfully though, Kenny Frease, our 7 foot center saw through the "mid major" BS, that you for some reason think is negatively created by the fans. It wasn't, and has been slammed by coaches who see how it hurts programs. Guess you didn't think about that angle.

Man do us Xavier fans sound like a bunch of losers. We are a 3.5 favor against a 12 seed? Not really sure that sounds like a bunch of respect to me. Xavier is a Mid Major to the rest of the world and who the hell cares. We sound like a bunch of nerds on here. How is that regression of your once vaunted football program to mid major status by Bolemia, that great hand picked choice of Dirty Barry? If is wasn't for a couple of missed extra points you would have lost to Cal Poly at home. BTW it is the Wisconsin fans bringing up the mid-major tag. That just shows typical Wisconsin stupidity. I am well aware of my inferiority complex when it comes to being a Xavier fan. Sub-consciously and in a twisted sort of way I think it's a small reason why I am such a huge fan of the Muskies.

I can never understand why these teams downplay x by calling the program mid-major and calling the team overrated (Dookane). It plays no useful purpose when a team beats X and makes teams that lose to X look foolish.
