I am glad Charlie is in good health, but that program is stuck in limbo as long as he coaches there.

Overall, Charlie has been fairly successful at Miami. It's not a program that's going to win the MAC every year. And they don't have a whole lot of fan support.

They were probably the best in the MAC if not for the injuries.

Coles is a good coach. Unfortunately he doesn't have/bring in great talent. But he somehow turns average talent into a competitive team every year.

I would agree. Coles is a nice guy but that program will never move forward as long as he is there.

He has been successful only if you define successful downward. Miami used to be the class of the MAC. They aren't the class of the MAC anymore and they haven't been for awhile.
Miami is a great place for bright young coaches to get a start. I guess the administration got tired of having to hire a guy every few years so they hired a guy that nobody would ever want. Nobody ever comes calling for Charlie Coles.
Why have a farewell tour and then sign an extention?

I don't know how realistic it is that Miami dominate the MAC right now. Not with all the surrounding schools investing so heavily into their BB programs. They decided to build the hockey program instead where there isn't as much competition. Looks like it was a smart move. They get great crowds.
