I've heard this like 800 times in the past day...what the hell does it mean?
I keep looking for Kansas when they say it????????????????

It means all the top seeds win their respective games. A chalk region would have a 1 and a 2 in the finals with the 1 winning.

I saw quite a few "chalky regions" my freshman year at X.

So it's more like a "Dick Vitale" or "Jay Bilas" region who both basically had #1 seeds in their Final Four...way to go out on a limb homers.

according to Urban dictionary:
"its used to describe the favorite, mostly in betting and gambling"
"The expected outcome, especially in a sporting event. Derived from, 'you can chalk that up right now, we don't even have to see it.' "

From Speaking Horse Racing...
Chalk....
A horse called the "chalk" is the favorite.
A chalky day at the track means mostly favorites won.
"Chalk" comes from when the tote was written on chalkboards.

Urban dictionary is correcton the meaning but not even close on the derivation. Before the electronic boards came into vogue, all the sportsbooks had the lines written in chalk on chalkboards. Not sure how it was decided that the favorites were the chalk and not the underdogs (since both of them were written up there in chalk afterall), but that's the way the lingo went.
