Also official on the bracket show.
Gotta sting that UC swept Georgetown and beat ND, but both those teams made it to the NIT.

I'm not a UC fan and their joke of a football program.
But still, UC probably deserved to be in the NIT. And it doesn't help the NIT's awful reputation that they don't pick the best teams possible.

Must suck being a UC fan right now. The hated programs are all doing well- UofL is the #1 overall seed, Memphis is a #2, and X is #4. Huggs and his boys are still playing. Ouch. Oh well. As Bob once said F$%k 'em. Really, f$#k 'em

Most likely thing you will hear from UC fans this week: "XU getting a 4 seed is joke. You guys don't deserve it."

Whatd'ya wanna bet that Mick is saying it right now.
I wonder if he wishes he had kept his big mouth shut?
Also, what are the "Sippin' Mick" references about that I always see?

On Koch's blog, some are wondering if Mick is actually going to deliver on his promise to turn down any invitation outside of the NIT. Looking for a bracket and don't see it yet. I don't expect them to accept a bid to the CBI (or the other one), but was just looking. Anyone see it?

I expect him to turn down the CBI invite and start turning his team's attitude around by kicking Alvin Mitchell off of the team

I expect that as well because of his behavior and because they need to free up a scholarship for Terrell Vinson. It would be a win-win if UC could pull both of those off.

This kills me, from Koch's blog when it appeared UC might be headed for the NIT:
"One good thing about the CBI and the new CollegeInsider.com Tournament is that it makes the NIT look a little more relevant. There was a time when being shuffled off to the NIT was like a slap in the face, but now if you go to the NIT you can at least say, “Well, at least we’re not playing in the CBI or that CollegeInsider.com thing.” The NIT, now run by the NCAA, actually has some history and plays it semifinals and finals at Madison Square Garden and has its games shown on ESPN."
So when UC is mentioned for the NIT, it's relevant, but when Xavier was going to the NIT a couple of times, it was the source of much humor in that town. The NIT now actually has some history? Spin, spin, spin. The difference for us though, is that we were disapppointed with the prospect of playing at MSG on ESPN. Karma, bitches. Karma.

UC just played at MSG on ESPN. It was the most hilarious thing of all time.

I think the primary reason that UC was not selected for the NIT is because they suck.
Cronin is a fool for passing up the CBI. One of his biggest bitchy excuses, even though there are so many from him, is that UC is young and inexperienced. Why wouldn't you want to get more practice time and play more games? It makes absolutely no sense, but it tells you a lot about Cronin. He is in way over his head and he knows it.
I used to think he was a good pick to run that team, but I was way wrong. That program will bumble and stumble around until they get that little fella out of there.

Mick just said that UC being snubbed by the NIT was political:

ugggghhh.
Yeah, kind of pitiful. A very small part of feels bad for Cronin. He's a hometown kid who hasn't been able to get the job done.
I know X fans love to hate Huggins. But he had a great thing going at UC. Will the program ever really recover? I don't think so. Urban commuter schools are typically not destinations for big time recruits.

Yeah, well they just had a graduating class come through that never saw an NCAA tourney game. And as XPEC noted, they only made one sweet sixteen in Huggins' last 9 years.
That's 1 Sweet 16 in 13 years vs X's two Elite 8's in 5 years. Clearly, there is a new sheriff in town.

I was a little disappointed when Huggins left town because I loved having the ultimate villain around. At first, I found it tough to dislike Cronin as much as I wanted to. He was saying all the right things to the media. But this year, he's really gone a long way in helping me. He's not nearly reached Huggins level in my eyes, but he's sure saying all the "right things" now. Lil douchebag.

Ha!!! Maybe I'm too young to really remember the negatives of Huggins.
But he turned UC into a "cool" program. I remember hearing Jim Rome on the radio argue convincingly that UC will never be the same, dynamic program without him.
Honestly, there's something sad about that.

Wow, what a whiny little bitch. Is he trying to put his foot in his mouth? He sure seems to doing it a lot lately. Clearly, he's frustrated but man, what a douchebag. My hatred for UC is going back up though.

No Mick, it's not political- it's economics. If I'm an organizer of an event, I want ND and GTown because I know they'll bring fans and money. UC got about 7-8K people at their games. They won't show up for NIT games because they think they're entitled to more than the NIT. And I don't care if UC went 3-0 against those teams, UC lost to some bad teams. It's not all about who you beat, it's about who you lost to, who you beat and how much $ you and your fans will generate.
If Sean were in this situation (yeah right!) he would simply say, "It's on us. We didn't get the job done and we have work to do." Instead Mick blames it on politics and little green men. Douchebag.
