crazy finish. Marquette should have held on the the ball longer, there was only about a 3 or 4 second difference in the game and shot clock. But the Marq player (i think mcneal) had a good looking drive to the basket but good recovery D by Nova to get the block, and then Marquette fell asleep on defense.

yeah the loss of James has killed them, and the committee has to seed the team they have, not the team that had James. Personally I think they should be a 7-8 seed, but wouldn't be shocked if they got a 6.

I guess I watched a different game. Yes, it was sloppy at times. A lot X's games have not been things of beauty either. It was a very entertaining game. Guys were driving to the basket quite a bit actually, especially after Thabeet fouled out. In addition to some sloppiness, there were a lot of great plays too.

According to the box score, both teams were down to just 5 eligible players left, and a few players playing with 4, so that would have been the end for substitutions, play who you have left. That also kind of makes me wish it would have hit 7 OT so that we could have seen team canibalization going on. If I understand the rules correctly if you have less then 5 eligible players remain you have to make due with whoever you have left, even if it goes all the way down to 1 on 1 ball. Would have been funny to read "And they win after 9 overtimes simly because the other team ran out of players first"

The good thing is they don't play again till 9PM if I recall correctly. Assuming they got out of Madison Square Garden by 2, they could still have plenty of sleep and run a somewhat normal schedule today, unlike say the finalists in last years SEC tournament that had to play a noon game, then an evening game. I agree that Huggins and his Mountaineers have a big advantage in that extra 5 hours sleep/rest time.

Also, when you guarantee yourself the absolute last shot, chances are it won't be a great look. That's the risk you take - get a good look that may leave enough time for the other team, or get a mediocre one as time expires.

But I understand your point, I just think by driving or even getting a better shot with 5 or so seconds left also leave time for the offensive rebound and not really enough time for the other team to do much with it.
