You lost me here. What rally are you talking about? I'll be in the house tonight (Section 206) and have never sold one of my season tix in the seven plus season having them. I'm just trying to do my part to keep the trash out of the Cintas.

There was a thread earlier about selling vs. giving away tickets. I think here KK is saying that the people may use the argument "give away your tickets to an X fan before you sell them to a UD fan" are ones who are rarely/never in the situation to sell.

I bought my dad season tickets for his bday. He lives in cbus and sometimes can't make it. Normally I'm fine giving them to someone since I've already paid for them, but if I'm a little short on cash, I don't mind recouping some of the cost.

I don't disagree with KK and am fine if people want to sell their tickets. I'm not crazy about trying to make a PROFIT off of it, but don't really care about the topic.

Kahn's got on me once because I made a similar statement and then recouped a ticketmaster charge in addition to the ticket price so that I could actually pay off the entire credit card charge without additional funding.

My simple point is this...don't sell, barter or give tix to Cryer fans. It's bad enough that the school has to give them the allotted 250 tix, but when season ticketholders sell them to Cryer fans, it's just downright wrong.

I don't happen to have any tickets for sale for the Dayton game, but I have sold event tickets for Bengals games, Xavier games, etc. I always hope I'm selling to the home team, but I won't prevent an opposing fan from buying my tickets. (With the exception of one time I sold the 2 seats next to mine to a Bengals-Steelers game. I made the buyer swear that they were Bengals fans in an eBay auction).

In general, the money I make from selling tickets goes into my charitable contributions for the year. If a UD fan wants to give me $100 for a ticket and a XU fan is offering $50, I'm taking the $100.

I also made the point in the previous post that if you claim as an individual that you would rather give a ticket to an XU fan than take $100 from a UD fan, you should be out there spending $100 on tickets to give to XU fans. Either way, you're out $100. Nobody took me up on it.

To me, the sentiment of "Don't sell tickets to Dayton Fans" is dangerously close to "Someone should do something about that, but don't look at me", which is my personal pet peeve. Something about crosstown shootout tickets...

See, I don't think that you are. i don't want to get into this debate all over again, but really, what are you doing other than telling other people what they should do with their personal property?

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment.

And frankly, I love having some Dayton fans in the house. How much fun is it to taunt them on the way out? It would suck if they got a Steelers-like presence in the 'Tas, but 500-1,000 of them is just great.

I'm sorry but I'm not with you on this. For me (at least), it's different when the money has already been spent.

From a textbook economist point of view, the two things are the same. It's theoretical and you are correct that there is an emotional difference to the two, but economically it's ($100) in both cases. You are giving up an asset worth $100 (well, grossly oversimplified). It is really more of an illustration question for the person who isn't holding tickets.

The more I think about it, if I'm going to argue that it isn't someone else's place to tell me what to do with my tickets, it also isn't really my place to tell someone else what they should or shouldn't say as far as what people should do with their stuff. Like I said, it's a pet peeve. I have no idea why it gets to me.
