Point guard Thomas injured, could miss game
By Doug Harris | Wednesday, March 11, 2009, 02:07 PM
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Dayton sophomore point guard Stephen Thomas missed practice here Wednesday because of a rib injury, and he’s questionable for Dayton’s quarterfinal game in the Atlantic 10 tournament against the Richmond-St. Bonaventure winner on Thursday.
If Thomas can’t play, the Flyers will be down to just one healthy point guard, London Warren. Junior shooting guard Mickey Perry took some reps at the point during the Flyers’ practice at Stockton College today would likely be Warren’s back-up in the game.
Reserve center Devin Searcy, who has missed the last two games with a sprained knee, has progressed enough to participate in drills, but he could only watch from the sidelines during the live portion of practice.
Thomas was injured when he collided with Chris Wright during practice Tuesday, and is having much pain in his lower back. UD trainer Nate Seymour said one of Thomas’ ribs has popped out of place where it meets with the vertebrae, and the two planned to see a chiropractor today in hopes of manipulating it back in position.

At this point I can only assume that dayton's practices are like a UFC fight.

The article forgot to mention Brian Roberts' flu last season.

I don't understand how Dayton has so many players injured each season. Does Gregory have them running into walls?

If they are going the sympathy route why not mention the player who was sidelined on feb 11 for the season?

Its official, the midget is a horrible practice coach. Seriously, one or two practice injuries in a season is quite normal, but good God, pull back some at the tail end of the season. Pushing the players too hard at this time of year, when pretty much everyone has dings, is just stupid. Simply terrible coaching. Terrible. If players haven't learned what is needed and expected of them by now, they won't get it this season. Going harder does nothing to better a team in practice this time of year, and leads to exactly what has happened to dayton.
Brian Gregory is a terrible coach. Horrific.
I HATE dayton.

Well said BBC. Gave me a good laugh. I can't rep you so instead I will give you public praise.

If London Warren is your only one of anything, you have some problems.

UD is only going to let CBS watch them for the selection show if they win tonight against Richmond.

Yeah, but boy do we love him so for that very reason.

Thought so, one of the geniuses on the UD board was saying how this could be used as a recruiting tool, and ended his post with "you think they're going to be following Xavier?"

If Brian Gregory's biggest worry right now is CBS cameras on Sunday, the Flyers are in for a world of hurt this weekend. That being said, I want one last shot at the melon heads Saturday night.

This is the main difference between Xavier and UD.
UD's only goal is to get to the dance.
Xavier's only goal is win it.
UD will certainly lose their first game in another atrocious display of basketball. We will probably get to the Sweet 16.

UD Might even go for the CBI... Given that SLU and the crybaby Cronin aren't going, maybe they'd have an opportunity to win a game.
Their injuries remind me of one coach who dressed his players in football gear to practice rebounding. Maybe they're doing that without the gear. Unfortunately, their mellons can't handle the knocks.
