The WCC is ranked 15th in the RPI. Gonzaga is the only team assured of a berth, but St. Mary's RPI is 49, and Patty Mills is back. St. Mary's is a team the selection committee will be watching.

The #1 and #2 seeds get double-byes, and St. Mary's held on to the #2 seed despite having Mills out for 9 or 10 games. All tournament games, starting today, are being played at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The championship isn't until Monday.

In the quarterfinals today (Sat) Santa Clara and Portland advanced to the semis against Gonzaga and St. Mary's respectively.

The semis are on ESPN2 tomorrow (Sun) starting at 9:30 PM EST (I think).

Wasn't around last night to update the semis, and I can see everyone else was too lazy to do anything with it. Or maybe no one gives a sheet. :D

St. Mary's vs. Gonzaga. Should be an interesting game.

I believe a St. Mary's player got T'd up in pre-game warm ups.

While I could see why one might think that, he actually got caught throwing down a dunk in warm ups. Dumb rule. He didn't do a crazy alley oop of the backboard or anything, just threw it in.

St. Mary's definately should be in. They are 25-5 and 4 of the 5 losses were with Mills hurt. They drilled Providence on a nuetral court and most feel as if Providence is a lock because they play in the Big East.

No way St Mary's makes it after this performance IMO. Yes, Mills is back, but St Mary's needed to prove they are a different team with him back. Losing by 20 will not do that.

On a side note, they scheduled another game for Friday night against Eastern Washington. Look for St Mary's to run up the score and for Patty Mills to score about 50. After all, they scheduled this game specifically to show the committee that Mills is healthy.

I bet Eastern Washington is really gonna be pumped for that game. /sarcasm

If they do somehow come out inspired and win, imagine how stupid SMC's AD would feel.

GW did this a couple of years ago against Richmond and also got T'd up for doing it. As dumb as they've been in recent years (including 6 on 5 vs. UD in the closing seconds), even they've never done this in a conference title game.

SMC looked outmatched last night regardless.

St. Mary's I think will be in but it will be interesting to see how it plays out. They need the game against EWU as Mills has not looked good in his return and it will serve them well to try and get him going again for the NCAAs or NIT.

On a side note. Steve Lavin is quickly becoming a favorite announcer of mine. He is so corny, but I find myself laughing all the time. He had some gems last night.
