Creighton just lost to Wichita State (according to these guys on ESPNU, though it sounds like the play is being reviewed). This was the first round game for Creighton--lots of folks had said they were in at this point as an at-large. I gotta think they will really be sweating on selection Sunday after losing so early.

Good for URI, though.

Whoops--1.9 back on the clock.

Creighton was up on these guys by 20 in the first half.

Creighton wins at the end???

What stinking channel is this on....watching via ESPNU is not any good.

I'd love to have actually seen the last few seconds of this game. 8 seconds left with Wichita going to the foul line down two. They missed, got the rebound though, and called timeout. Then ran a play and made a 3 to take a 1 point lead. Creighton takes ball length of court and misses shot, rebound fumbled around and eventually out of bounds to Creighton. The replay I saw showed 0.01 seconds left when the ball when out of bounds. How they got 1.9 to run a last play is beyond me. But the kid made a clutch shot to win it. And yeah, Creighton would have been done if they had lost.

That was an amazing shot. Good to see Creighton still alive. That's 11 straight wins for the Jays.

The top 4 seeds have advanced to the semis.

In RPI the MVC is ranked 9th. Northern Iowa is the #1 seed, but behind both Creighton and Illinois State in terms of individual RPI. I'm not sure if this is a Juan Bid conference or not. With Creighton getting by Wichita this is probably a 2 bid conference if they don't win it all, and the regular season champ might get one if Creighton does.

Semis are on FSN Midwest Saturday. Final on CBS Sunday.

I just watched the replay of their game winning shot twice on Sportscenter. They inbounded the ball with 1.9 left and got the winning shot off with about 0.4 left. But you can clearly see the clock didn't start for a good second after the inbound occurred. Yikes. Poor Shockers.

I thought the same thing when I saw the replay, Biggie.

I think Creighton makes it if they don't win the tourney, but if they do, Northern Iowa ain't getting an at-large.

#1 seed No. Iowa beat Bradley in the first semi.

I found the Creighton/Illinois State game on CSNC, channel 665 on DTV. Illinois State leads 30-11 with 7 to go in the first half.

Illinois State leads 35-18 at the half, but it could've been worse for Creighton - they actually closed the gap a little the last few minutes of the half.

My guess is Creighton with a their pressing style and good bench makes this a game before it's over. Unfortunately the X game will start before this one is decided.

A final update prior to the start of the X game. With only 7 minutes left Creighton has yet to mount a comeback. In fact, ISU has extended their lead 64-40. Looks like tomorrows final will be Illinois State vs. No. Iowa. I think Creighton is still on the bubble. But who ain't?

Creighton down 64-40 with 6:15 to play, and the announcer says, "Creighton needs some stops."

Really? Like 15 or 20?

The Blue Jays go down by 24- 73-49. Bad, bad bad.

Forget the Dance. That kind of performance just opened up another spot for a crappy Big Greased or SEC team to get a bid.

Damn, Creighton must have played like Xavier tonight.

I saw most of the game. It was a combination of Creighton not being able to hit a shot and Ill St just being absolutely on. That Osiris Eldridge is a heck of a player and they had another guy who was 6-8 from 3 i think.

That Osiris Eldridge is a heck of a player.

He sure is. Dick Enberg likes him. He puts the O in wow!

Anyone else watching this? Going to OT tied at 48. Illinois State had a shot at the end of regulation, but not a very good one. Good game. I love this time of year.

Northern Iowa should of had about 1.5 seconds left to get a shot off as that was clearly a shot clock violation at the end of regulation.

They were probably just happy to survive there. Illinois State is looking like they are going to take it, but N Iowa has hit a couple clutch shots.

Oh man, the Redbirds are going to be sick losing this. Missed a wide open 3, missed a lay up, and then let it get it turned over after really having the defense beat.

I think it's a good thing for Creighton that N Iowa won. Since Creighton finished 2nd in the regular season, N Iowa being the regular season champ might have received a 2nd bid over Creighton if ISU had won.
