Interesting article.
There’s a chance that arguably the top three freshmen in the country won’t be dancing in March.
Well, at least the three frosh who have what many NBA scouts believe is the most upside at the next level.
Greg Monroe, B.J. Mullens and DeMar DeRozan came in with the most hype of anyone in the Class of 2008 (except for maybe Brandon Jennings, who is over in Italy) – but all three of them are on the proverbial bubble when it comes to making it to the Big Dance.

Does anyone else find it funny that Thad is recruiting the best talent in the country but cannot make the tournament?
At least I do.

Talent that went to the NBA. Just a small qualifier there.
How much you wanna bet OSU makes the tournament? The guy lost a stud player and he'll make the dance. He'll keep Mullens and has a stud recruiting class coming in.
In short, you are an idiot.

Most projections still have OSU in. They've lost 4 of 6 but are still in the top 40 in RPI. They also will likely have Lighty back for the big 10 tourney.
Fred's right - they basically have everyone back for next year plus the very good class coming in. They will be stacked.

...Fred's right...
I don't see that posted here very often. He might be right about OSU and the NCAA tourney but I don't think Juice is an idiot.

Fred -
Actually, OSU has no one signed for next season to date. Their next stud class (Sullinger, etc.) will be arriving in Fall '10.
I still think OSU will be dancing later this month.

Not to mention he has Deshaun Thomas coming in from Fort Wayne in that class, I think they have already named him Indiana Mr. Basketball for next year when he is a senior. Kid is a beast 6'9 avaerageing around 30 as a junior.

Thad's 2010 class could be better than the Oden/Conley/Cook class, at least in college. Sullinger, Thomas, Sibert, possibly Adrien Payne, and more. Could be as many as a 7 player class depending on roster fluctuation, and all 7 could be top 200 talents.
BJ Mullens is the biggest fraud of a top recruit. I was fooled too after watching him put up 63 and 22 at Flyin to the Hoop last year against a pretty good team. But so far he's only a dunker and plays terrible defense outside of his "I'm simply taller than you" blocks.

But that is part of my point. He is recruiting good talent and can't get any of them to stay. What good does that do a program to have top 10 classes but not make the tournament.
As of now, I do not think they make the tournament. Their two remaining games are Iowa and Northwestern, which will not get them anywhere by winning but can only hurt them. They will have to do some damage in the Big 10 tourney.
And I did not make the original statement as anti-Thad, but anti-OSU because that school pisses me off with a passion. And Fred seems a little sensitive anytime someone attacks them.

It's been interesting to see who Thad has picked up... Greg Oden was defensively-minded at least, but he was never a big scoring threat. Kosta Koufos - I'm gonna be totally honest, I had much better things to do than care about Ohio State basketball last year. BJ Mullens honestly had me wondering if he broke his femur or something. You never hear about him on ESPN and from what I can tell he's about as interesting as Greg "The Chameleon" Oden.
