This is the one time a year I don't mind openly rooting for UC. Good to see the lesser of two evils get the win!

hmmm. I just don't feel this way. I still hate UC and their sham of a football program more than Huggins.

I hate it. With the full resources of the ESPN propoganda machine at their back, I'm afraid UC will get in the tourney. F'm. Really.

Big win by UC. They did a pretty good job of defense. WV really misses their PG, moreseo than even UC.

I hate UC more than Huggins because people actually called into 1530 today to say that they were "UC fans but they were supporting Huggins tonight." If that isn't the definition of a bogus program, then I don't know what is.

That game was not even sold out. How lame is that? Unfortuantely UC has some of the lamest fans in the country. As a matter of fact the city of Cincinnati has the lamest fans in the country. Cincinnati has become a lame sports town. I don't know why it has but it has. I mean UC can't sell a game out unless Louisville brings 6,000 fans, Xavier is a top 15 program and the coach has to plead for people to be better fans, the reds draw about 18,000 a night and the Bengals are the Bengals yet the have the most rabid fans. Town is messed up and I need another beer.

You are correct. Poor choice of words.

If it makes you feel better - sUCks winning helps our RPI moreso than Thuggs winning.

Strange game - for the first 3-4 minutes it seemed like nobody wanted to score the ball, then in the home stretch it seemed like both teams were trying to gift wrap the win for the other team. But at the same time, it was a game that was pretty close most of the game which keeps it exciting.

The whole Huggins Tribute angle was much overhyped:a one minute video and a pre game introduction. If their goal was to make Huggins cry right before the game started, it worked. The 12 or so fans in imitation mustard suits was classic.

Overall, there was hardly any "circus" to it, there was a bit of chering when he took the court, then a mildly loud cheer when they introduced him with his team, then they showed the video and for a few short moments everybody got it out of their system, then it seemed like most of the fans did keep loyal to whatever team, not coach was on their shirt.

Gotta factor in the economy. A lot of people are out of work, not to mention a bunch of corps cut pay by 5 percent or more. It's not a typical 'fan' year.
The fans will come back.

It is nice to see them win only to help our RPI, but if they get into the tourny it would be a shame. They really do have a horrible resume going 1-8 against RPI top 35, WVU being their win. But then again I think the big east is overrated every year and they will certainly get more teams than they deserve into the tourny.

While I despise Huggins as much as anyone, UC is starting to get on my nerves again. The recent comments from Cronin eat at me. That little leprechaun is making it easy to get back to thinking UC deserves no respect. I felt sorry for them recently, I really did. The kids on the floor didn't deserve what they were going through.

Now? Their weak fanbase, their whiny coach, and their overhyped conference add up to me despising them again.

UC sucks. Huggins is an afterthought and his best years are behind him.

Payback dayton.
Payback.

I HATE dayton.

I don't get the ambivalence; I hate them. And I'm having trouble drinking to a Xavier victory knowing they could possibly make the tourney. Basically, I hate their fans.
And guess what, they hate us too. Don't forget, how it was is how it shall be again.

UC and cincy reds fans have been staying away for 4 years even when Huggs was at UC they were not selling out. It aint the economy.

Early on it wasn't, but the fans are slowly coming around. Hell, I didn't go to the game last nite, and I was invited by several people. I'm not spending money on UC or X tix this year, it's that simple. I can't speak for everyone, but I know people that aren't going to either school's game simply because of economics.
Next year will be more telling for me than this year. UC should have a pretty good team next year. Huggins will finally (or should be) be put to rest, Zimpher is gone...so the fans should have no excuse as I believe the economy will be better this time next year.

One would think that despite the economy, a school w/ 35,000 students and a huge alumni base in town coudl sell 13,000 tickets.
I agree that fans in this town have become passive. I blame the Bengals and the Reds....mostly the Bengals.
