Much like Snipe, I never played the game. But I think teams play from quarter to quarter.

From four minutes to four minutes. That sort of thing.

Everybody with me?

We're in the last quarter of the season. And we are going to 4 and freaking 0h.

We've already pocketed one win. We play Dayton at home and DC Muskie is in the house for the two road games. I'm suiting up. I'm wearing the arm sleeve, the head band, the pulled up socks, the tape on the fingers, the knee brace, and the face mask. I'm coming to play this weekend, and I'm bringing some ballers with me.

Ballers. With a B. Like boo-hoo, we lost to Xavier AGAIN!

The Hawk will Never Die? Dayton Knobbers? Richmond Spiders? This is what is standing in our way from Glory?

I'm in Tutu's head right now. I'm sending him some positive thoughts. The dribble drive, the no look dish, the fade away jumper. I'm sending it back west to my boy Tutu. This is where Xavier finishes off this league, like a cheesesteak that gets in my way.

4-0. It's going to happen.

4-0. Another title.

4-0 we roll in AC and we bring the Super Bowl to town.

4-0. We've done it before, we can do it again.

Flagship.

Again, how about you guys actually beat someone else- like uh, Providence, Cal Fullerton, LaSuck, Richmond, Tulsa, Appalachian State, Old Dominion and St. Louis?

Dude, I can take losing to a conference school on the road- it happens- but how about having a team that actually tries all the time so you don't just drive everyone else down like a freakin' anchor?

You do make a good point...

But if you guys had taken care of business on Thursday, your point would be moot, wouldn't it?

The only thing moot is that your pikers will be sitting at home in mid- March.

Hey now - remember they can always sign up for the CBI, and what is that new one the College Hoops Invitational or something like that?

i'm sure there is plenty of post season fun to go around for anybody that cares to pony up the entry fees. That is if the organizers can find enough teams to field 4 seperate tourneys.

I mean look at the CBI - last year Cincinnati (remember that school that shares our city) got invited to the CBI with a losing record! There is still hope!

Or wait MOR - are you suggesting that even with those other 2 wanna-be NIT's that the Forty-Niners will still be sitting in the team clubhouse in Halton Arena on Selection Sunday with texas sized boxes of tissues crying about "What might have been". Wow, that IS depressing! I don't think I can get my mind around a thought quite that depressing.

Maybe they can just sell Halton Arena to finance that new football program. They can join their fellow ex-CUSA rival Cincinnati in proclaiming "We're a football school now!"

Thank the Lord for DC Muskie and unbridled optimism! I was starting to waver. I was starting to prepare for the disappointment of bowing out the first weekend of the NCAA tourney. Now, I cheered hard for our guys yesterday. Hell, I cheered from my couch last Thursday until there was about 1:30 left in the Charlotte game. I would never act like I expect less than a win, but my heart's been wavering.

I know the Dayton game is going to bring some good smack but I needed something to get me up for the St Joe's game. I saw DCs post about us rising in the polls, instead of falling, and realized that's exactly what I need: a good DC Muskie smack post. And here it was. Sitting on the top of the list in the Smack forum.

Now I'm ready. I believe again. We're going to roll over St. Joes. We're going to beat the watermelons out of Dayton and squish those Spiders like they're a bunch of ants. We're going to roll into AC and show that town we can own it too. The X late season magic will carry us through. These guys know how to win against real teams. Throw them in a place like UDump and they get a bit confused, thinking they need to avoid stepping on garbage instead of trying to step on the Flyers necks. It's understandable.

Let's get to the NCAA and play some real teams so we can play real basketball.

4-0 here we come.
7-0 here we come.
On to lucky 13!!!

The day we proclaim we're a football school is the day that I turn in all my Niner gear and buy fairly blue Tar Hole clothing.

Its great you are wearing all that gear, but there is one piece of equipment you need to wear so when we are celebrating our third straight championship after the last game of our season.....Richmond can smell it!!

Yeah we reeled off what, nine wins?

You know something about nine wins right? You play about 27 games to get them it seems.

This is an Oscar Award winning movie. It features BJ Raymond, Derrick Brown, a lunchbox, your grandmother's rocking chair and baseball bat.

"Must See!" claims DC Muskie

"4-0 will take you to the Glorious Land of Glory!" Adds DC Muskie

"Charlotte hears a who?" claims Awesome 9er fan.

DC!!

Way to bring home the W against St. Joe's. Wish I could have been there to eat a Philly Cheese Steak with you again! Last time we were screaming "A-10 champs" in Tom Gola Rec Center.

See you in Richmond on Saturday! What will we eat for an encore?

I believe in 4-0 and beyond.

It was a lot of hard work. I yelled. I clapped, I yelled some more. The boys came through, then I did my usual thing and hunted down Byron and shouted at him about how awesome we are. Byron and I are boys really. Either that, or he thinks I stalk him.

Thursday, we dispatch Dayton.

Saturday, we burn Richmond.

Sunday, Freedom rises once again over this conference.
