View Full Version : Pablo responds to Watermelongate haters

First of all - let me start with proof:

Watermelon thumper echoes ud success;
http://udel.net/PR/SpecialUDelivery/vol2no1/watermelon.html

Second of all especially to Arnold Horshack - who's previous moniker here was Nuts4xu... I could care less about what your opinion is of my actions regarding Melongate. I didn't start it, I didn't end it and it will forever be part of the Xavier lexicon.

My hatred started with ud when my grey haired mother was accosted by two ud fans on her way up the stairs, I was trailing ten feet behind her and when those two fugazi's saw her wearing her Xavier sweatshirt proud - they jeered her, scared her and cursed at her. It takes a lot for me to get mad but I went up to both of them and demanded they apologize and they refused. I said some choice words to them about something regarding lack of decency. That was it for me. I never hated Dayton, never thought about them - but after that incident, it clicked. As she was yelled at by almost every fan on her way from the 100 seats to the half way mark - my blood started boiling.

I never had noticed the "Beat Xavier" t-shirts, never noticed little brother trying to swing away. But when ma familia was threatened and jeered by the fans of ud bc of my mother wearing her sweatshirt. It was on. And I never have and never will fight a ud fan, never have defaced property. If anything (and yes I have talked to relatives of KW and even they laughed about it) I have tried to keep melongate tongue in cheek. But some people, especially ud fans - and I guess some summer eve's fans from our school don't realize that satire and humor is protected.

Second part - please note after I did not start it - merely encouraged the viewing of Melongate video - the peons of ud went zonkers.... As if we were really serious with allegations of fruit molesting (which later was proven in a court of law) it's like the little kid you give a nickname too (like little brother for ud) and they hate it... Presto!!! it sticks. Those idiots hated the Watermelon's so much because it exposed them for the trash that they are and secretly exposed why so many watermelons are sold in the greater dayton area (I will never capitalize dayton or anything remote to it) therefore it stuck and will always stick bc of their sick sick love of fruit.

Third part - things get personal... waleskowski's dad then actually gets on a ud message board and threatens me repeatedly with a lawsuit for defamation of character and libel. I welcomed any and all challenges to this because I would have paid $100,000.00 to see the judge's face when a red faced father says, "And this internet poster claimed that my son had relations with a watermelon".

Hey I am all for sticking up for family (see above), but if your son is in the public light and a varsity basketball player who worked his way up from a walk-on to arguably one of the better players at ud in recent memory - one Xavier fan's post should not make you post on a ud message board trying to defend your son but then in the process - regardless of the intentions, you make yourself and your son the laughing stock of the A-10 bc you got so worked up over an obvious farce. Your son busted his butt and was a very good player, but you my man only disgraced your son by trying to come to his aid and defend him when his actions on the court more than spoke for himself.

Yes - after that I bought watermelon hats for facepainters vol 1. and yes I fed-ex'd a watermelon to good old pete but only after his threats - and lastly yes I ran onto the court after we beat ud... sorry a SILENT ud arena. But that was only bc Filthy Chilean and I were in very nice seats, and we were totally respectful of them and their fans even though we got yelled at, popcorn thrown at us.

And then there were two straws that broke the camel's back - a 15 year old kid in front of us kept yelling at us and flicking us off and standing up on purpose trying to block our view. Finally after he threw a hot dog wrapper at us and yelled F-xu - to me and filthy for the 20th time - I mentioned to him and his father that if they didn't stop it, I would report them to security and if they failed to respond, I would make sure both he and his father (who was very much encouraging him) would never eat anything solid again. They both apologized, and I accepted it. They later again apologized and wished us luck.

When Xavier finally came from behind and won - these two ud fans next to us who had been cool the whole time - one of them finally became literally violent once we won the game- pushing me almost down the stairs. That is when I said, "nobody from dayton is worth fighting - watch this" I will give the other ud fan credit where it is due. He and I knew the same girl and he tracked me down and apologized for his friend getting violent and blamed the booze and Xavier being the better team. At no time have I ever antagonized, hounded or harassed a ud fan at Cintas or at ud arena bc they went to a different school than I did.

Yes the stomping of the ud logo is one of my favorite memories, yes the watermelon hats were passed around and yes I have no idea how I got home from Dana's that night.

So as much as you someone might not like my actions - so what - on this board... Hit the ignore button on me and move on with your life.

As for recent actions... Yes I still can and only will hate one team and that team is dayton.

I closed my board down bc of too many negatives in regards to my University.

But I hope you never have your mother receive threats from a group of ud fans, your tires slashed at a ud bar, pushed down some stairs after leg surgery and treated like crap bc you went to a better university 45 miles south of dayton.

Bc if you had those things happen - I guess your actions would be a little bit harsher than to talk about watermelons... bc we all know how offensive watermelons are to EVERYONE.

Yours with respect,

Pablo

Pablo needs to get me one of those fancy seats he sat in with Chilean for the game at UD.

And he's right about them harassing older fans up there. Just look at the posts on MM. I remember x hoops going up there and getting hectored when with his wife. It's a disgrace.

I think otherwise sane Dayton fans go insane from those putrid odors emanating from the Great Miami.

I didn't start it, I didn't end it and it will forever be part of the Xavier lexicon.

I think lexicon is right on. I think it is here with us to stay. UD fans have earned it through their reactions to the humper references alone. I read the UD board yesterday and I read complaints about Watermelons. I read the A-10 board today and I read UD complaints about Watermelons.

It really gets under their skin. Because I know it gets to them, I like to taunt the humpers.

They make it too easy.

The whole UD board could decide to call us sheep shaggin bastards and I don't think anyone would be up in arms. What we say means something to them, and what they say means little to us. They measure themselves against us, we measure the flagship against our own history in an effort to constantly get better.

It really isn't even much of a rivalry. It is just us wanting to constantly get better, and them wanting to constantly be us.

Humpers.

In the old days when I used to frequent ud boards - and the topic of harassment came up, nobody and I mean nobody that was a ud fan could fathom it actually happening. They asked for police reports, etc... It was fine and fact that they admitted to yelling at XU fans, taunting them and hating them... But NOBODY would ever dare be "Classless" to a Xavier fan.

Now in hindsight - a couple years out of college I was set up on a blind date with a girl that went to ud, her dog was not that big of a problem but we decided to go to the ud-Xavier game. Mistake - close game, and lets just say we never talked again. Point learned - I didn't realize the hatred they have for us but now it makes sense.

Also I received better tickets once and NJNP and myself went to the lower bowl. We were nice and cordial and we thought fine. Well I don't remember who but someone had a huge dunk and we stood up and yelled and when we sat down an old lady who smelled like mothballs hit me with a rolled up newspaper and told us to sit down and not cheer for the rest of the game.

She didn't like it when I said, "Now you know why your kids let you rot in a nursing home" now she didn't hear me but the point is - I would never hit someone with a newspaper.

And you watch the dayton fans this Thursday night (I have been on a business trip since the 1st and am flying in for this one) I will guarantee you that some dayton fans keep their hat on during the playing of our nations song. That is the drek and the trash we are dealing with.

I hate dayton, I loathe dayton and I hope we beat them by 1038 points

OK, we can agree to disagree. You think it is something worthty of "Lexicon" status. I choose to hope that it eventually fades from it's association with Xavier basketball. Problem solved for me. I hope that there are other fans who agree with me, but I think there are many who have never seen the original video and series of posts. It's not something that I would want presented to the vast majority of Xavier fans. And I don't like players families having to deal with this type of embarassing stuff on message boards. A well moderated board would have removed porno material immediately, especially when referencing an opponents players. Instead what we had here was encouragement to spread it around the internet by linking it to legitimate fan sites. I think we all get sick of the way people attack our own players on boards with little or no moderation. This went beyond anything our players and their families have had to deal with in a public forum.

To the younger fans here, my advice is don't buy what is being sold here as a great part of our tradition. It just isn't deserving of Xavier University, and if you saw it on today's boards I bet you would be embarassed for our fans. And please don't take any lessons here that harassing an opponents family by sending packages to the family residence of an opponent is a great way to show your loyalty to Xavier. We really humiliate ourselves if we stoop to that level.

Horshack is a poor imitation of me, as I found the whole saga to be quite funny.

Pablo is a great American and a great Xavier fan.

For what it is worth, I think the melon humping stories are hilarious and I am in no way embarassed as a Xavier fan that these stories were spread around a Xavier message board.

Lighten up a bit there Horshack.

How the F did I miss this thread??? Have to admit that I got tired of the Watermelon stuff at one point because it eventually got too much play on the boards by too many posters, but right now, it's CLASSIC. I'm reppin' Pablo as soon as I finish this post.

I remember when the whole watermelon incident went down and thought it was hilarious. It was always fun explaining to friends at the games why they would occasionally see random watermelon pictures or apparel. It was a great original post by you know who you are and it was fun to watch it spiral out of control, and I would like to see it continue on and see watermelons at Dayton games for years to come.

And for what it's worth I think it's truly sick that Keith Waleskowski and Sean Finn would do that to a watermelon together.

As the season starts tonight, I will truly miss Pablo and his passion for XU hoops! We all know how much XU meant to him and his family. I will miss seeing him at the Cintas. Be sure to raise a plastic bottle in his honor tonight!

God bless Pablo!

There is and will be an empty spot in Xavier fandom. Pablo's antics are missed, but his fanaticism and love for all things Xavier are missed more.

God bless.

In honor of Pablo, I will sporting one of these for every home game vs dayton. I fully support that others do the same. It's only 15 bucks people.

I repped Pablo and think it would be a great tribute to the man to have more rep points than anyone else on the board, even thought he is no longer with us.

He IS a great Xavier fan, and I hope he can help us from above this year.

Godspeed Pablo!!

In Pablo's memory, the watermelon lore has spread to the city and campus of Charlotte.

Watermelons are not in season here, and the largest you can get is about the size of a very large cantaloupe - the perfect size to smuggle into a student section!

Thought everyone would enjoy seeing this post again. They are talking about him and Snipe's smack laying abilities over at UD Pride.

I am looking forward to a nice, relaxing, subtle ass kicking of biblical porportions on UD's ugly ass uniforms that even Helen Keller would throw up on. To paraphrase the bard of our time; "They think Mini Me is a conqueror? No, Sean's Alexander. Gregory's no Alexander. Sean's the best ever."

Here's my prediction:

Pablo left us quite a while ago, but in typical dayton fashion, they can't let go of the past and live in the present. Stupid humpers.

I HATE dayton.

I'm friends with Waleskowski's wife on Facebook. I've known her since grade school. I just did something I've been wanting to do for years: I posted on her wall that I was going to go grab some watermelon and watch the game.

Looks like I will have one less friend when she sees it.
