All of you Big East conspiracy theorists - I think you need to turn your attention to Michigan State. Year in/year out they are mediocre and are ranked highly. They were #5 this week. Their best win is against Kansas at home. Their next best win...I guess @ Michigan? I'm so sick of hearing about how good they are, only to watch them and see how not good they are.
I bet they fall a giant 1 spot after getting spanked tonight by a struggling Purdue team. They've been living on past success for about 10 years now.
I haven't even mentioned the 35 point loss to UNC in their home state.
You want a team to complain about? Don't complain about Gonzaga, or Nova, or Marquette. Michigan State is the biggest fraud in the country.
When I think of living on past success for years I tend to think more Gary Williams. At least MSU has kept their program at a pretty high level. I'm not going to say they aren't overrated because they are right now and have been several times, but they were in a Final Four in the last 5 years or so, they consistently schedule a tough OOC, they are always one of if not the biggest conference home game for other Big Ten teams, and they aren't scared to play outside East Lansing before the New Year (like many of those Big East teams we complain about.) These are all things that I respect.
But all that said, as of right now, them being number 5 in the country is as fraudulent as it gets. I'm just not ready to ever write that team off because they are talented, well-coached, battle-tested, and have done damage in March several times in my memory.

Uhhh??? They went to the sweet 16 last year, a final four 4 years ago, an elite 8 6 years ago, and we all know about the success even before that.
I wouldnt say they are living off their success 10 years ago.
They have 5 losses with the 11th toughest schedule and are 8-1 against the top 50. I'm not saying they are a top 5 team because they are really good one night and bad the next but they are better than you are giving them credit for. Wins against Kansas and Illinois are both pretty solid.

Here's the gist to me. How good do you think the Big 10 is this year? That reflects directly on your opinion of the Spartans.
I happen to believe, and the numbers back it up, that the Big 10 is pretty good- better than the Big East and way better than Gone-zaga's league. I know, Marquette beat Wisconsin, barely, but Not-re Dame lost to Beaky and both those games were at the Big Greased home court. If you throw out Indiana and their loss to Not-re Dame, the Big Greased is only 3-3 against the big 10 with 2 of those wins coming from West Virginia. Minnesota schooled Louisville. None of the "top tier" Big Greased teams would even play a game against the Big 10 other than the Louisville/Minnesota game.
So, if you believe that the Big 10 is pretty good, then you have to give Michigan State a little more credit. #5 is way too high, but Top 15, like Xavier should be, is valid.
Sorry, Art. You and I will disagree about the perpertrated fraud that is the Big Greased- except for UConn and Pitt. They are legit.

I do not get why Michigan States gets a free pass for losing at home to both Northwestern and Penn State. Because Suton had an injury? Well Xavier had injuries playing Duke, Butler, Duquesne, and Dayton. Those losses no longer count. Xavier should be considered undefeated, in the Top 5, and a lock for a 2 seed.
I am laying the groundwork for detonation if Xavier gets dropped a seed line in favor of an undeserving Michigan State.

How do we deserve a better seed then them? Like I said, they have the 11th sos and 8 top 50 wins both better than us? They may not be better but they have better numbers.

They have 2 better numbers.
They are 8-1 against the top 50, which means 4 of their losses are against the not top 50.
We have four losses, with 1 of them against the not top 50.
I'd be more impressed with Mich State if they had 5 losses, and were 8-5 against the top 50.

I think the Big Ten pretty much blows....but since we're in the A-10 I don't really feel like throwing stones.

Their 5th loss to purdue actually was actually their second top 50 loss. So they have 3 non top 50 losses. I dnt knw if any are "bad".

One of a many great lines from Demetri Martin. I'm curious how his new show will pan out.

First episode was pretty good. Looking forward to tonights episode. One bright spot that I can tell from the commercials is that he is working with H. Jon Benjamin on the show, who is one of the funniest commedians that no one has heard of.
