If anyone cares....D 37 C 33; Dayton hit a 3 with about 40 seconds to go. They suck at the line worse than X...5 of 13 so far.

Who is doing the color commentary on TV for this game?
Whoever it is said, "Let me remind you that this Charlotte team took Xavier down to the wire last week." What about a 69-47 Xavier win is down to the wire?
It does sound a little bit like Byron, but that would have been a quick turnaround for him to have gone from Pittsburgh to Charlotte over night.
Anybody know who this misinformer is?

I freaking LOVE IT!!! I was looking at their board last night after our loss and UDump was bragging how they will be in first place after they beat us on Wednesday! HA! They can't even beat lowly Charlotte! There is justice in the world after all! :D

Technically, a tie for first would give the nod to Dayton depending on a potential victory over Xavier and their better overall record (albeit versus cream puffs).

The forum is about Xavier basketball, with a little mixture of other topics. Most of the posts I make here are about Xavier because as a basketball junkie I watch many Xavier games. If there were decent boards about UC and other teams I'd posts thoughts there as well. My wife and the majority of my friends are not hoops fans, so I turn to the interwebs for discussion.

Were you guys not able to see this on CSTV? I'm pretty sure they carried it.
Thanks for the tip, guys. The players mouths all watered when I pulled out a nice, fresh, juicy watermelon. After we did a few "watermelon" chants, students towards the back started asking questions. Hearing somebody behind you laugh every few minutes as the story spread backwards was great.
What was bad though... was as I was walking out, a Charlotte alum asked me what the deal with the watermelon was. I had no idea what to say... he had a five year old girl with him.
We played great basketball today, no doubt about it. If we continue to play like this, then we might have a chance at gaining back some respect before the tourney.
Go take care of business vs. them. They didn't look so good.

Are you talking about Huxtable? He was being a troll.
There are good Xavier fans on UD Pride, and yeah, Dayton fans don't handle it well. That's why I mainly post in the "Pride Plus" forum. Great hoops discussion among the subscribers.

Yeah don't forget St. Joe's who is the exact opposite of Dayton . . . Lousy out of conference then cleans house within. Dayton tends to do the opposite - xcept this year because they have crushed Fordham, GW, St. Louis, etc.

Wednesday's game is huge for both sides. Even with a bad loss today, Dayton can all but lock in a bid with a win. A win over X and Dayton can go .500 the rest of the way and still get a bid. All anyone needs to see Dayton do is beat a good team. Lose, and they have to finish strong...can only afford losses at X and URI. People accept bad losses when you have great wins. The conference title is still theirs for the taking, too, because St Joe won't go 14-2 or 15-1.
Xavier needs a win to keep their conference title hopes in their own hands, and they need to bounce back for seeding purposes in March. A few more losses drops them from a possible 3 seed to the 5-6 line. With the way their guards are, that might be the difference between playing the second weekend or going home early.
Throw in bragging rights between players that know each other very well, and you have a huge game. I can't wait. My seat is in 411, but I probably won't use it much.

Hard weekend for both teams. But misery sure loves company. Even if both schools were undefeated or as would have been the case had X won, the Wednesday game would have been huge, no matter what.
Because of Dayton's record over the past three years against X, Wednesday's game would have been Dayton's NCAA tournament and Xavier's chance to maintain a shot at theA10 regular season title.
Now both teams will have a serious chip on their shoulders, and, given the rancor between the fans of the two schools--not necessarily the schools themselves--both UD games will be knock down,drag-out affairs with a whole lot at stake.
Simply put, Dayton must win to solidify an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament because of their crummy non-conference record. If Dayton should lose both or one Xavier game, the Flyers would have to win the A10 tournament to get in and be at best an 8-9 seed. Xavier must win out to get a 3 or 4 seed or maybe even a two. Both schoools have tough road games in their final weeks,eside their games with each other.
But Wednesday is far more critical to Dayton than Xavier.
The one thing I hope is the game has the three best officials the A10 has to offer or they put three of the best in the NCAA on both games, because if they don't, one team or the other will have bitching rights.
And I sure hope both teams are healthy. It would be a damn shame for either to have to play with missing bullets in their guns.
Oh, and after Wednesday, Xavier still has to go to Charlotte, St.Joe's and Richmond, while Dayton has to come to Xavier and who, St. Louis and Rhody? Or is the road easier for them?:cool:
