I like the NFL as much as the next guy, but I cannot wait till all of this Super Bowl coverage is over. There's SO much over analysis. Really, does the average fan need to have one teams potential defensive strategy against the other teams offense be analized to the Nth degree?

I love the Super Bowl (mostly for the food), but I cannot wait till it's over so I can see more college basketball.

That's why when you're watching SportsCenter and they start talking for 15 minutes aboout the SuperBowl, you change the channel until they start showing hihglights again. I couldn't tell you a single SuperBowl storyline because I dont care.

Oh crap, I agree with drudy.

I really haven't seen much super bowl coverage because I choose not to watch it.

Ditto. I think they should just cancel it due to a lack of interest.

The only time I have ever enjoyed it was last year and in 2000. I watched every second last year. This year my roommate and I (he's a Cowboys fan:rolleyes:) change the channel every time it comes on.

There's a superbowl this week?

Serioulsy. I had the good fortune to go to the Colts-Bears Superbowl. It was a great experience, but there is a ton of downtime while they play the commercials. I never realized how good I had it at home.

Sportcenter did this with the BCS National Championship game as well. They are just saturating their market with sooo much coverage that it's annoying. They, just like MTV, are getting away from what makes them great, which is showing highlights of last nights game. I don't need to hear the analysis of Chris Berman anymore or that of an analyst that just comes off trying to be superior to the people actually watching.

The Super Bowl might be one of the lamest sporting events around. Its all hype and the game sucks 9 out of 10 times. The coverage from ESPN is annoying, useless, not all that informative, and is usually dominated by crappy puff pieces.

I just came to the realization that I hate the Super Bowl ( and yes I realize that this sentence sounds weird).

Thinking about that now, i don't think it sounds all that weird. You are correct in that we are more likely to get a blowout then a close game. Let's face it, the probability of Sunday's game comparing to last years is not very high. As for analyzing the game itself, i think i would actually enjoy Sportscenter again if it just analyzed the commericals for 15 minutes.

The Super Bowl has become the New Years Eve of sports, get all excited and built up for it, and it lets you down year after year.

That's why I watch ESPN News and not SportsCenter. SC has basically become a sports variety show. Even on Sat. night/Sunday morning, with all that sports action on Saturdays, I'll watch the ESPNU SportsCenter instead of the flagship SportsCenter.

I don't know if I have ever been as indifferent about a super bowl as I am this year. I haven't watched a single second of coverage this week and debating whether or not to even attend a super bowl party. I hate the steelers, but I don't see Zona winning so I really just don't care.

Guaranteed all of you watch too. Maybe not the whole thing, probably though, but at least part.

Luckily I got to attend the greatest SB of all time. I do hate the coverage for two weeks but I still enjoy the game itself once it gets here.

You are the Giants fan right? So your opinion would be biased, but that very well may have been the greatest Super Bowl of all time. Of course it really got under my skin watching them hoist the Lombardi Trophy last year, but this Giants fan's response to their early exit in 08 made up for it in my mind:

Against the Eagles no less... Sadly, I was rooting for the G-Men because as much as I hate them, only the Cowboys are lower than Philly in my book.

Yes, the loss this year did sting but winning last year, and getting to be there no less, has eased the sting greatly.

I'm with MD on this one. Over the past year or so I've realized that Espn is something that I hate liking. They continually create/perpetuate/overhype sensationalist story lines that I really don't care about. In search for a big headline that will grab viewers attention they continually beat stories into the ground and I keep watching, these include:
Bonds
Donaghy
Patriots camera cheating (I refuse to call it spygate because the use of gate after controversies is overdone)
anything TO related
anything remotely race related

The bad thing is there is nothing we can do because they basically have the monopoly. What am I going to do watch the FSN sportswrap or get my highlights from Ken Broo?
No, I am going to keep listening to Skip, Woody, Berman and their merry band of talking heads as they tell me for the 30th time something I really don't care about. Feel free to add other comments on why espn sucks...

I think that over the last 2 weeks I have watched ESPN less than I ever have over any other 2 week span. Its all about the SB all the time. Its great for Cards and Steeler fans but for everyone else its just nausiating. Especially since I know my team should be there;). (Damn guns)

Thank God for the DVR! I've finally been able to enjoy sports again. I get so sick of the talking heads repeating the same irrelevant stories. I just set the DVR and start watching 30 minutes after the game starts.

I might watch this instead of the Super Bowl.

I think the over analysis problem with the NFL extends far beyond Superbowl week.

It's frustrating in late February, long after the season ended, for Sports Center to dedicate a good chunk of their broadcast to the draft instead of College Basketball. Hell, even in July Espn saturates it's broadcast with NFL training camp analysis.

Hype. That's all the NFL is. No other league has a smaller ratio of games played to press coverage.

Well that cant be surprising to anyone considering the other two major sports have 82 games and 162. Not to mention the NFL is by far the most popular of the three.

True. Even on a Wednesday during the NFL season, I don't quite understand why people would want 2/3 of Sports Center showing highlights from last Sunday and analyzing next Sunday's games (show me some baseball and basketball highlights, damn it).

Its the same for me. The only reason i watch now is to catch the Top 10 in hopes that a dunk from DBrown made it from the night before. The Top 10 is really the only highlights anymore.
