Am watching Ole Miss finish off UK right now, and heard the color commentator make a fairly flattering comment about Xavier in passing. He was talking about Ole Miss' David Huertas and how he plays with toughness like "CJ Anderson from Xavier, Jerel McNeal from Marquette and Levance Fields from Pittsburgh."

Pretty good company for Anderson to be mentioned in, and great to hear that when "toughness" comes to basketball analysts' minds, a Xavier player is the first out of his mouth.

Solid company no doubt. Nice find, ky.

Speaking of UK's loss, and being a taxpayer over here, I always worry about the spike in domestic violence on nights like this.

Earlier in the game there was a comment to the effect of, "If Kentucky wants to prove it is a top program, they need to have toughness. I believe there are only 3 teams that show toughness game in and game out. Xavier, Marquette, and Pittsburgh"

That is OUTSTANDING! All this "free" pub seems a little too good to be true to me. I know it is certainly merited. However, do you think X's marketing firm has a part in all of this? Just curious.

Not to put a damper on the goodwill... I was watching the game when the quote was mentioned. The only problem is that he was referring to the player's mental toughness after he hit a clutch free throw then he referenced CJ as fitting that mold. Nice to hear, but....

How does this damper the situation at all, because of CJ's poor (but improving and seemingly always clutch) free throw shooting?

Yeah, I don't see how that changes anything. I mean, what other kind of toughness would he be talking about?

I was watching that game too. He said the three toughest teams in all of college basketball are Xavier, Marquette and Pittsburg. I was thinking he meant on defense, trying to score in the paint etc...I kind of missed what he said after that cuz I was yelling "Hey, did you hear that?"
Not that I REALLY care but it was a good win for a hard luck Ole Miss team and LSU already destroyed Ole Miss by 30, so I guess that's the only reason I partially interested.

On a side note...if Xavier could get matched up w/ a Big 10 team the first 4 games of the NCAA tournament I'd have a high confidence level that they'd be in the final 4. I have not seen 1 game or one team that impressed me.

Didn't CJ eat one of the Toledo players? I believe they do preseason conditioning at their football stadium, the Glass Bowl.

So, LSU beats Ole Miss like a rented mule by about 30, and the "Big Blue" get their a$$es handed to them by the same mule.

Another Sham-Wow?

Jimmy Dykes talked about Xavier and CJ and toughness on several occasions.

Despite all of his problems, AK can coach. I was trying to think in the shower this morning how well we would be doing if we had lost 3 starters. The answer is that you never know. We are deep, and it would all depend on how the subs (that are good subs) would perform given a larger role. Ole Miss had a freshman guard from Memphis that was money last night. The guy would be seeing limited minutes without the 3 guards being out with knee injuries.

By the way, I'd like to text Miss Muskie to congratulate her on her victory. Can I get her number?

I would give it to you, but she told me not to give it out. Apparently I'm her fix when she needs the good stuff reallly, really bad. So she told me.
