Pat Forde took a look at Dayton today

Dayton (24). Record: 18-2 overall, 4-1 in Atlantic 10. The Flyers are living right, owning a 7-0 record in games decided by five points or less. But the A-10 is weak this season, and Dayton has played only a single team from a "Big Six" conference. That was Marquette, and that upset win looks better with each Golden Eagles victory. Still, Dayton would feel better about its status as an at-large contender if it wins at least one of its four remaining games against Saint Joseph's, Temple and Xavier (twice).
Looks like he's not that big of a believer in the Flyers, considering the weak schedule

Win atleast 1? They need to beat Temple and St. Joe's...minimum 2.
Maximum of 2...they cannot beat us

I guess the MWC or MVC has replaced the SEC as one of the "Big Six" this year. Because Auburn, while dreadful, is still a member of the SEC.

They HAVE to beat St. Joe's at home Sunday - I'm pretty sure their game at Temple is a roadie, and they'll be hard-pressed to split with Xavier. Still, I'd love to hear the words "paper tiger(Flyer?)" thrown up for them in March.

Let me tell you, u dump's path is fraught with danger at every turn.
First of all, they have to play at Rhode Island- loss -after playing at St. Louis- possible loss. Then, in order, they play Temple at home then the routine loss to XU in Cintas.
Before all that, games at LaSuck and Charlotte are no gimmies either. LaSuck has some talent, as proven by them winning at UMess-something that the Cryers couldn't do. Finally, they still have to play against St. Joes where Nivins will just abuse the white straws that the dump sticks in the middle. Of course, let us not forget the walk in the park that XU will have up there.
While it's probably a stretch, it is very concieveable that the school up north could wind up 8-8 or 9-7 in the league.
Contender or Pretender? Film at Eleven.

Dayton needs to stop going 8-8 in this conference. They need to go to the strap-on store and buy a ton of strap-ons, and then strap them on tight and win at least 10 games. Which I think they will.

I think we'll win 11 or 12 games in league play, possibly 13 if we nip X at home. I really don't see us losing to SJU or Temple at home.
Most likey scenario:
Losses at URI and X
Split with La Salle and Charlotte
Win every home game other than...
50/50 home game with X
Best case 13-3
Worst case 11-5
Barring the unforseen, of course.
Adam may be right, its just I no longer trust dayton to live up to anything.....if they have built anything to live up to so far. I could see them going 11-5 or 12-4 most likely. Enough to be sweating it out come tourney time. I think if they lose 5, theyre Not-In-Tournament bound. If they lose 4, they will be a tough decision come bubble poppin time.

xu15, you are right on the mark, UD needs to win 11 games to be even on the bubble this year because the A-10 simply is not as good as last year. If Temple and St. Joes can separate themselves along with UD, then the A-10 might be able to get multiple bids if X does win the conference tourney. So they better strap-on because each game is really going to count for them.

Well, the strap-on store is ion campus so let's hope they can get there soon and account for another A10 bid.
