WTF???

Does that make like 4 postseason tournaments now? Unless the CBI has died an early death, as we could only hope for.

Dayton has to be the early favorites.

Funny you should mention the CBI, I was just on their website a couple weeks ago, bascially becuase someone asked me "Did the CBI learn their lesson and go away?". Unfortuntely the answer is NO, their website is prepped for the 2009 CBI.

Their website: http://www.gazellegroup.com/events/cbi/

That said I just tried that link and no luck, must be a connectivity issue with the high demand of fans of basketball programs that are having off years looking to make their post season plans.

I was going to make a dayton joke in my original thread but instead I decided to leave it up to the experts. Thanks, Go.

You mean the Cincinnati Bearcat Invitational...unfortunately it still exists

Sometimes you have to go ahead and grab the low hanging fruit.

I notice no mention of the CBI in the press release about this new tourney. Does that merely mean they forgot about thte CBI, they don't consider the "CBI" to be a real tournament, the CBI has indeed died, or is this the CBI reincaranted. "Ok, it didn't work last time, the format sucked, the financial package sucked, the broadcast package sucked, but we somehow want to do it again!" "No problem, find some other sucker to put their name to it, and we'll try again under a new name"

Simple facts are, once you seed the NCAA and the NIT, there just aren't enough good teams left to make a meangingful tournament. But hey they said they want to plot games geogrpahically to cut down travel costs and boost fan attendance - maybe they can get UD and Wright State to play each other. Maybe they will insist the game be held at Nutter so it can be held in the premier basketball arena of Dayton, and not the old sewage dump.
