Per our friends at Wikipedia, let's take a look at the year that was - 1981:

1/19/81 - 50+ hostages were freed from Iran.

3/6/81 - The country saw Walter Cronkite on the CBS Evening News for the last time.

6/12/81 - MLB players went on strike, therefore splitting the season in two.

8/5/81 - Despite going on strike and not returning, the nation's air traffic controllers learned not to f*** with President Reagan. They were all fired.

Much has happened since that fateful year and 1980-81 season.

The vast majority of Xavier students were not even born in 1981.

Dayton's suck spans the generations.

Personally, I was just learning how to say my first words that year. "Pass UD as a Program" would not be my first words, however.

This is the bad thing about hope, it's a bitch when reality comes crashing down on it. The reality is ud is now a one man team and it will take a huge effort just to stay competitive in cincy this year. You should wait for another year to drink that tainted kool-aid!

The last Dayton victory in Cincinnati was on Feb. 22nd 1981... Here's a link to some info about the date... "9 to 5" was the #1 song on the charts!

Maybe it's just me DF1, but I'm pretty sure that "9 to 5" was not the #1 song for 27 years. Just a guess.

How many species have become extinct since then? By the way, they really ought to start selling Billy Beer again.

Think how much warmer the earth has become since Dayton last won here.
